Getting There

1. By car or motorhome:

If you are coming from close countries, as we did, renting a car or motorhome is an excellent option to explore the region with more freedom. See our guide for tips on how to rent a motorhome and make the most of this experience.

2. By train:

3. By plane:

Switzerland has three major international airports: Zurich, Geneva and Basel. All offer easy connections to other cities in the country.

Pratical Tips:

Traveling through Switzerland by motorhome in winter is a unique experience. The landscapes are stunning, but it is important to plan well because of parking restrictions and weather conditions.

Switzerland has four official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Most of the places we visited spoke German, but in regions like Lugano, Italian predominates. Knowing some basic words can help, especially outside of tourist areas, where most people speak English.

In winter, temperatures can vary greatly depending on the altitude. In lower altitude cities, the thermometers are between -1°C and 5°C, while in mountainous areas, such as Zermatt or Jungfraujoch, temperatures can drop to -10°C or even lower. Get ready with suitable clothes and, in the motorhome, a good heater is essential!

The official currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF), all the establishments we went to accepted card and we didn't have to withdraw money.
