@packdsuitcase's 3 Days in Geneva🇨🇭
Bienvenue! Welcome to Geneva!🇨🇭
Switzerland's second-largest city is found in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, along the country’s westernmost edge. While it’s well-known as the hub of international diplomacy, Geneva’s also a vibrant travel destination with many gems to discover.
At first glance, it’s clear… Geneva’s gorgeous. The sparkling aquamarine lake and rugged mountains provide an epic natural beauty. The vielle ville Old Town is like stepping back in time. Watchmakers and artisan workshops are alongside the many charming shops, cafes and historic sites waiting for you to visit.
There’s so much to do, and if you are someone who enjoys walking a lot, then every walk is a feast for the eyes. Geneva is actually known as the City of Parks. In fact, 60 public parks mean that 20% of the city is parkland! In the warmer months the parks come alive, buzzing with picnics, parties and plenty of amazing playgrounds for the little ones, too.
The city is clean and safe with easy and accessible public transportation. And the food options are wildly eclectic — much more than just fondue and chocolate!
That said, food here can also wildly expensive… Often CHF 25 for a pizza or a burger (with fries often extra!). Luckily this guide has plenty of money-saving tips to help travelers on a budget.
Much in Geneva revolves around the lake, and there's no shortage of ways to enjoy it. Lakefront promenades, parks, cafes, bridges... and those small yellow and red boats you’ll see crossing the lake? Those are mouettes and they’re one of the best (and most inexpensive) ways to get an iconic photo of the Jet d’Eau, Geneva's most famous landmark.
