Airport Information MCO (Orlando International Airport)

Arriving MCO

Exiting the Terminal:

Arriving at MCO is usually the simple side of things. You will be welcomed by the mayor's message as you take a tram from your terminal to exit. When you get off the tram, go left or right. They will both get you to the same place.

Finding Your Way

The airport is confusing to navigate, but overhead signs are plentiful and make the airport fairly navigable. Information desks at the baggage claims are a great resource for any questions you have no matter how big or small.

Baggage Claim:

Once you pass security, there are two sides for baggage claims, so keep your eyes out for signs that point you to escalator to the right ones. If there are thunderstorms, all baggage handlers must pause work for 30 minutes after the most recent lightning strike near the airport. Check the weather and plan extra time if there are thunderstorms and you will need to retrieve luggage.

Rental Cars:

The rental car companies are a short walk across from the terminal to the garage. The elevator buttons are labeled with the rental companies that are on each floor.

Departing MCO

Rental Returns:

Most major rental car companies are walking distance from the terminal, so there is no need to factor in time to take a shuttle, but check with your rental provider before you go, as several smaller companies have recently popped up that do take a shuttle.

Security Confusion:

When departing, you will want to double check your gate number, as the airport has two areas for security. The walk between them is easily manageable, but you will be questioning your choice to pack your extra shoes if you have to make it.

Food:

There is a food court with a handful of major fast-food chains between the two sides, so it may be worth a stop as long as you can finish your drinks before security. Both sides of the airport also have many options after security.

Security Programs:

MCO participates in Clear Reserve, a free program to reserve your security time. Often, you can save a lot of time waiting in line by doing this in advance. MCO also has TSA Precheck. The TSA App has approximate wait times for MCO, and they can be in excess of an hour during holidays and school breaks.
