14 day Itinerary Vanlife Sardinia
Day 1 : First Impressions
There are different ports you can arrive from in France usually Marseille and Italy Genoa or Livorno. Most likely you'll arrive in Golfo Aranci so that is where our adventure will begin ...
One of the initial tourist attractions along the common route is the La Maddalena Islands. While it's possible to ferry your van and spend a day or two on these islands, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it due to its time-consuming and costly nature. Additionally, parking overnight is forbidden, and the area can be quite touristy. However, if you have more than two weeks and a strong desire to explore every corner of the island, I highly recommend the Cala Coticcio hike. Embarking on this journey before sunrise allows you to avoid crowds (and the heat) and experience a stunning sunrise. Another enjoyable activity is island exploration by boat. You can opt for a tourist boat with several stops or, even better, rent your own dinghy. This experience was one of the highlights of my time in Sardinia. With a bit of luck, you might even spot some wild dolphins, as I did.
For those who wish to steer clear of crowds and enjoy a relaxed activity on their arrival day, I suggest driving to Capo Testa. We opted for a delightful 5 km round-trip hike here. The trail is quite manageable, and you have the flexibility to extend or shorten it based on your time and energy. The path leads you alongside the beach, up a gentle hill, and unveils remarkable rock formations with a wide ocean view at the end. It's particularly enjoyable for children (or those young at heart ;) ) who might relish climbing the sizable rocks at the trail's conclusion.
