I spent 3 days in Cape Town and Cape Peninusula, but if you have time I suggest you to stay at least 4 days. The Peninsula is amazing and it's worth to spend 2 days there.
I slept at Gardens, the area was safe, easy to reach the city center in a walinkg distance.
To move around the city I used Uber, very easy to find a ride in a reasonable price. I was there during the New Year's Eve and sometimes was hard to find a ride.
If you want to use the public services you have to buy a card, but most of the people suggest to go with Uber.
Even if I felt safe almost everywere, be aware to not to go out during the night and be sure if the area is safe or not, also when you are driving. Google Maps shows some closed roads even if in reality they aren't because is not safe to drive there.
Here we go, my itinerary:
Day 1
Starting from Long Street you can walk until the waterfront, following my itinerary. I had lunch at Kleinsky (see below) and Mojo Market with Uber, and then grabbed another Uber to go to the beach.
Camps Bay beach is a very nice spot for the Sunset, but I suggest you 2 places that are a must see:
Day 2
I went to the top of the Table Mountain by Cableway - as it was the 1st of January, many people had my same idea so spent 3 hours in line to go up. When you are up you can walk on the top - there is no much to do. The view is amazing but I was a bit disappointed.
You can hike to the top, but don't do it alone, is not safe.
Other option is to hike The Lion Head, I'd suggest go there instead of Table Mountain.
We went again to the Camps Bay Beach for the sunset... amazing!

Day 3
I rent a car at the airport to visit the Cape Peninsula. I spent only 1 day there, but I suggest you to spent at least 2.
