The Best Cookies in New York

You can't go wrong with any cookies on this list, and we encourage you to eat them all, but if you can only hit a few on your trip, definitely check out Levain and Janie's. Those are hands down our favorites.

Levain

Levain Bakery - 74th Street
@perfectlittleplanet
Levain is one of the most well-known bakeries and cookie shops in NYC and it deserves it's reputation. These 6 oz. cookies do not disappoint. Levain has multiple locations throughout Manhattan, but if you want to visit the original location, head to the 74th street location. There is no seating here and often a line out the door because of the shops miniature size! WHAT TO ORDER: To be honest, you can't go wrong with any of the staples: - Chocolate chip walnut - Two chip chocolate chip - Dark chocolate peanut butter chip (favorite of ours) - Oatmeal raisin (favorite of ours) - Dark chocolate chocolate chip Levain has started to offer a seasonal cookie, which are good in their own right, but the classic selection above are home runs every time, no question. INSIDER TIP: The name of the bakery is often mispronounced for how it's spelled, but is actually pronounced "Luh-ven". We're stuck in our ways over here though and can't see us changing our pronunciation any time soon!

Janie's Life Changing Baked Goods

Janie's Life-Changing Baked Goods
@perfectlittleplanet
UWS location. Not only is Janie's story a good one (read here: https://janiebakes.com/pages/about), but the cookies are out of this world! You will not find another cookie like this. It borders between pie and cookie in the best way possible. The staff are the sweetest people you will ever meet and can help you narrow down your cookie choice because you will want one of everything. WHAT TO ORDER: Don't skip the pie crust cookies! Get whatever flavor you are feeling—they're all delicious! If you want to grab a regular cookie too, they are also good. But I repeat: Do not skip the pie crust cookies! INSIDER TIP: The UWS location does not offer indoor seating, but does have outdoor seating. Come prepared for the weather whatever that may be.
