As a California nature, here is my tried and true itinerary for a 3-day weekend in Sonoma. I trialed this itinerary first for an ACTUAL couples weekend we had in July 2023, so it’s legit and rehearsed! 

There truly is so much to see, taste, and relax into in the area! I’m so happy to share a few of our favorite activities in and around the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is located in the Boyes Hot Springs neighborhood of Sonoma, California. The luxury hotel has onsite restaurants, a pool, a full service day spa, and many activities to accommodate everyone's needs and wishes. 

On Saturday, we'll mosey in from the city to Sonoma at our leisure. The day will mostly be checking in, relaxing (of course), exploring the grounds, wine tasting, and moseying downtown to the Girl & the Fig. 

Check in at the front desk, and enjoy a glass of Gloria Ferrer bubbly! After dropping off your stuff, meet at the Lobby or Water Tower Pool to say hi.

There is Wine Tasting in the Lobby daily, but because it's a Saturday, there is also Live Music on the Lawn from 5pm-8pm through October! Cozy up at one of our outdoor firepits, enjoy seasonal bites from CaliForno Street Eats, and sip on your favorite cocktails and Sonoma wines from 38º North Bar!

After some tasty bevs and bites, we'll catch the shuttle to Downtown Sonoma from the nice valet. They'll drop us off for our reservation at... 

We will hang out in the Fairmont lobby, which has games and a bar, to close out our first night! The Water Tower pool is also open until 10:00pm for a warm evening dip.

Couples will meet at the Lobby around 11:30am to start our Day's Festivities! If it is a holiday weekend, head to the spa first thing to reserve a spot at the Day Spa, if that is what you want to do.

An easy morning without too many activities. Try breakfast by the pool at Water Tower Bar, Sante, or order room service. Try the crab benedict for a delicious dish with a luxurious amount of crab. Explore at your leisure! 

If you are feeling up for it, try out the Peloton or squat rack at the gym located the next door down from the Fairmont Spa. If you ask the Spa desk, and it is not too busy, you can also use the spa facilities. 

Head out for a few hours to either downtown or nearby wineries. I've listed Options One + Two below. 

Option One: Food and wine in Downtown Sonoma

A fun culinary adventure at Valley, in the downtown plaza area of Sonoma.

Select from some of the following hot spots downtown. Prices range from $30 to $110, indoor and outdoors depending on the location.

As another option, we could drive a car and head out to the wineries in the nearby Sonoma area.

Convenience/proximity-wise, select an area and group the following: Imagery + Hamel (Glen Ellen, north), Domaine Carneros + Artesa (southeast), or Patz & Hall + Gundlach Bundschu (south, closer to downtown).

After wine tastings, we'll head out for our Wine and Food Pairing at Mayo Family. We can either head back to the hotel for rest first and swap cars, or go directly. The last seating is at 4:30pm, although they have plenty of spots during the day starting around 11:30am! Cost is $75 or so per person. The experience is about 90 minutes.

We will wind down again back at the Fairmont or downtown, depending on our mood for the evening! A great restaurant that I highly recommend is Valley.

Same as the day before, grab breakfast at the Water Tower Bar or Santé on-site at the Fairmont. Head to the gym for a morning workout!

Tip: If the hotel is not too booked up, ask the front desk for a late checkout til 12:00 or 1:00pm. 

With our stuff safely stored with Concierge or in your car, we'll relax at the Day Spa. Book a treatment at the Spa, prices start around $199.
