📪Introduction

Thinking of a road trip? Or have a fantasy over a scenic train ride? Instead of hopping into a car, there's a sleeper train that takes you on a scenic route all the way to Kelantan!

There are two starting points:

1. Gemas - Tumpat (+-11 hours)

2. JB Sentral - Tumpat (+-16 hours)

Tumpat is the last destination on the route, and travel times may vary.

If you're traveling from KL, you would need to first buy an ETS ticket from KL Sentral to Gemas because that particular train does not leave from KL.

Make sure to buy your tickets earlier, it can be sold out pretty fast (especially during public holidays or school holidays)

🚂How to book Overnight Sleeper Train Ticket (KL-Kelantan)?

1. Log into KTMB website and click on New Ticketing (KITS) to register an account

2. Enter your origin, destination, date, and the number of passengers

✅example:

Departure: Gemas

Arrival: Wakaf Bahru

❗️Note 1: There's no direct train from Kuala Lumpur to Kelantan, hence, you will first need to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.

3. Click "Pick Seats"

*note: There are only 3 sleeper coaches which is from T6-T8, with upper and lower berths and with slight price differences

lower berth RM46; upper berth RM40

4. Choose your bed and make the payment

*note: Your train ticket will be sent to your email. If you don't receive it, please check your spam folder

Tips:

✨ I recommend choosing the lower berth on the right side, as the windows are larger and you won't need to climb the stairs

✨ Select a seat in the middle of T6/T7  (Last time I left with no choice but to pick T8, which was next to the door and close to the train head, it was quite noisy for me)

✨Bring some snacks/bread/water in case you got hungry

✨If you're sensitive to light, consider bringing a blindfold (the train's lights will stay on the whole day)

✨The dining area is located in the middle of the train (between T5 and T6)

✨ If you don't want to book a sleeper berth, you can opt for a seat (T1 has premium VIP seats, both single and double seats, while T2 to T5 have regular seats)

✨ ALWAYS KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR BELONGINGS :)

Checklist:

🔸 Water bottle

🔸 Snacks/Bread

🔸 Jacket/Sweatshirt

🔸 Tissue paper, Wet tissue

🔸 Powerbank

🔸 Books

🔸 Ipad/phone

🔸 Earphone

🔸 Pillowcase (optional)

📷Good Photo Spots

🔹 7.30 - 8.00am, the train will stop at Gua Musang for about 5 minutes, quickly get down and get some stunning shots of the cave

🔹 9.30am, after passing Dabong Station, there will be 5 tunnels which are built during the British Colonial Period. Just head to the end and wait for it!

🔹 You will get to see a lot of railways, kampung area, rivers

💕Friendly Reminder:

Although this is not a luxury train, you still get to enjoy Malaysia's unique scenery from a different perspective and that's what makes it more fun and adventurous! This is definitely something you should try!
