Let´s be honest, it is not easy to keep the motivation up while on holiday. There is too much to do and too much you want to taste of the local food. However, if you are away for 2 weeks or as much as a month you will feel it when you return back home. So here are some tips that I live by when traveling.

Success starts at home

Let´s be honest here! Did you pack any training outfits? If you say none you have already decided to have a rest and that is more than okay. Sometimes a rest is well needed and well deserved, but if your suitcase or backpack has room for one top and one more bottom for this purpose bring it along. Worst case scenario you will get something comfortable to prance around in when you are in your hotel room. It would be an advantage to pack with you shoes as well, but if there is no room for it then there is none.

Your hotel has a gym!?

That is great! I love that for you, but this is not the case for everyone. If your hotel has a gym or a pool, use it. Even if you did not bring your training clothes, get on that treadmill and run or lift some weights. Even if it is only half of the routine you do at home, it is still something to be proud of. I usually prefer to do it in the morning so I can have the whole day to do something else. Despite saying do not completely stop training, remember you are on holiday. Relax and enoy the moment.

Your hotel has no gym?

No problem!

For when there is no gym, go outside and go for a walk or a run. In many countries, specially Asia you will find outdoor parks with training facilities. Use them! You might see many elderly people using them, with the same age as your grandparents, but the equipment is still made for everyone. Take advantage of it and have some fun with it.

Calisthenics

Calistenics is your best workout friend while on holiday as there are a lot of exercises you can do and since it all is based on your bodyweight it is possible to do in the hotel room. While at home you can think of up to five exercises you want to do while at holiday and maybe have interchange
