Hotel Mursal - Yagodina

I got inspired to check this hotel out after I saw a friend's Instagram post in which she captured the magical view from their window. That's when I knew I had to see it for myself.

Breathtaking views, close to nature, and a unique feeling of authentic Rhodopian hospitality. 🛁 Make sure to check out the outdoor hot pool designed as a huge barrel. Dip straight in after a relaxing sauna experience. 🎍You'll find locally made jams and various herbs specific to the region. Just ask about them at the reception!

There many attractions in the area including:

~ Eagle's Eye viewing platform ~

You can reach it by a 4x4 jeep by prior inquiry at the Mursal Hotel reception. The ride takes approx. 20-30 minutes and provides a true off-road experience. The platform offers a unique view of the valley and mountains all around.

~ Yagodinska Cave ~

A legendary cave, this is a must-visit in the area. Make sure you have cash as the entry fee (approx. 5 EUR) can be paid in cash only. Parking is available on site for 2 lvs (1 EUR).

Also, dress warmly: it gets quite chilly in there!

~ Devil's Throat Cave ~

Another must-see cave is the Devil's Throat Cave. Legend has it that during a fierce storm in the past, that knocked away trees and horse carts, the rain dragged everything into the cave. After the rain, the locals waited at the other exit of the cave to collect whatever belongings they could. But nothing ever came out . . .

While you're there, consider visiting the rock formation The Maiden. A roughly 10 min drive or a short hike up a unpaved path (luckily, not steep).

Guest House Kruchma Bratyata (Кръчма Братята)

Step back in time in Kovachevitsa. It's best to leave your car at the parking lot at the town's entrance and to walk to the guest house. Tucked away in the narrow streets, you'll pass many historical houses.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I was barely a week old when my mom took me on a plane for the very first time. And it's been hard to stay off one every since. Hi! I'm Rayna - a native Bulgarian that grew up in Poland. I was 16 when we relocated (back) to Bulgaria with my family. That's when I started discovering my country, little by little feeling those patriotic roots inside grow. A 3rd culture kid, traveling is in my DNA. As of this day, I've been to 33 countries around the world. With so much more to explore, I am trying to find a healthy balance between between traveling abroad and getting to know my own country. My friends have told me numerous times to get into the tourism business given my passion for traveling. Oftentimes I spend go on endlessly talking about Bulgaria with friends and not only. I'd be happy to take you on a journey to discover Bulgaria by sharing my experiences with you.
