About Vevey... 🗺️

Vevey is the city I'm living since I was born. It is located on the stunning shores of the Geneva Lake. It's a very charming town in the Swiss Riviera.

Is is known for its breathtaking views of the Alps and the lake, it is home for rich cultural heritage, including the Chaplin's World, a museum where the famous actor Charlie Chaplin lived and nearby the world-famous festival Montreux-Jazz Festival. With the picturesque old-town, vibrant market on the main place and beautiful lakeside promenade, Vevey offers a perfect blend of nature, history and culture. 🌄🏔️

This festival taking place in the first to weeks of July every year, if you have the possibilities to go, you shouldn't miss it. It's 20 minutes far from Vevey by bus and 5 by train. Tips: Book tickets early for popular acts. Enjoy free performances at the outdoor stages. Buses are free during the festival!

Why do you have to visit Vevey when traveling to Switzerland ?🇨🇭

As I said, Vevey is a charming little city located by the Geneva Lake and with wonderful views on the Alps.

1st activity - old town ⛲️

The old town is probably the best thing to explore for free in Vevey. Half of the city center includes the old town.

With a lot of little shops, its pedestrian streets, cobblestone streets and amazing restaurants, you can go for a walk and discover this amazing picturesque old town. With some really good restaurants located in this area, you can easily visit the old town for half a day without being bored.

Here are some typical swiss cuisines and some really good restaurants:

Trois Sifflets
@nmtravelingtheworld
This restaurant is my favorite typical Swiss restaurant in Vevey. You can order Swiss specialties, I recommend you, if you have never tried, to eat the Fondue, it's my favorite meal in the world! 🫕

Chaplin's World is an immersive museum in Charlie Chaplin’s former home, celebrating his life and films between 1914 and 1952. You can explore his manor, iconic film sets, and personal items for a deep dive into his legacy. It is a must visit when you visit Vevey ! 🤩

There is also a statut of him along the lake in Vevey ! 😉

Here are few tips :

- Visit early to avoid crowds !

3rd activity -Alimentarium

Founded by Nestlé and featuring a delightful selection of exhibitions, interactive presentations, and cooking workshops, the Alimentarium invites young and old alike to take another look at an essential activity: eating!

Normally I don't really like to visit museum when visiting a city, it depends what it's about, but if someone tells me to visit a food museum, I don't know if I would honestly accept. 😂

However, this food museum is maybe the best one in the world, no joke ! You can learn a lot about where food is from, how it's imported to europe from around the world, how some foods are made and a lot more!🍔

Don't forget to take a nice picture of the giant fork in the lake!📸

4th activity - Stroll along the shore of the lake

With such a wonderful landscape (when it's not raining), you can have a walk from the market place of Vevey until "Musée du jeux" which is the border between Vevey and La Tour-de-Peilz. Between mountains and lake, your journey along the lake might be interrupted by some birds, fisherman, skater, people drinking coffee on a terrace or even people swimming in the lake when it's warm enough! 🏊🏻‍♂️

⭐️ What make this walk so extraordinary:

- Mountains all around you.

- The lake on the other side.

- France being on the other side of the lake.

- Sunset (if you're lucky).

5th - The Bains Payes 😎

To finish your day in beauty, I recommend you to have a drink or even eat at this amazing terrace. Open only during summer, it's the place to be for every person living here or every tourist visiting this city.

A terrace overlooking Lake Geneva, offering cocktails, refreshments, burgers, appetizers, and more. You can even swim from here!

Here's a picture I took during summer time! 🌅
