The Most Underrated City I've ever been! Luang Prabang, Laos.
There is a lot to see in the city. It is not just a base from where you can visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Southeast Asia. It is so much more!
I walked along the river towards the Southeastern steps of Phousi Hill. On this hill you can find different temples and the Buddha’s footprint. It is a popular spot to watch the sunset from, because of the gorgeous views over the city and Mekong river.
I made my way down the other side of the hill where I arrived at the Royal Palace, the next spot on my list for the day. Aside from the royal palace itself, you can enjoy walking around the garden, seeing the royal racing boats, the temple or even attend a royal ballet theater show.
There are multiple temples withing the city center. If you are up for an early start, then you can watch the Monk Alms Ceremony at sunrise. Every morning the Buddhist monks walk down streets whilst the locals kneel and offer alms, usually in the way of food. There is no issue with tourist watching this practice, Please do not partake in it. A monk advised me that only people who practice Buddhism should partake in the Giving of Alms ceremony.
