Day Trip to Northern California from Reno, NV
McArthur-Burney Falls
The first stop was the beautiful falls, since it was the furthest away from me! This is an easy 1 mile loop. I brought a sandwich to munch on, as I admire the falls from the bottom. It was absolutely stunning.
Lassen Volcanic National Forrest - Cinder Cone Trail
In my plan, I wanted to hit two trails in Lassen National forrest; however, I did not want to stay late, since I was hiking by myself. As a result, I only did one trail, but it was definitely worth it!
The Cinder Cone trail is a 4.7 mile hard-rated trail on the All Trails application. In my opinion, it was moderate. There's a long dirt road to get to the parking lot. I did not have service and had to trust that I was going the right way. I definitely had a lot of fun on this trail.
My one recommendation for this trail is to soak up the view from the top, while you are there. I spent an hour up there, eating another sandwich. I am appreciative for the nature around me.
I definitely recommend running down the hill after, but warning do not fall because that would be highly dangerous. I saw a group of people running down the hill, so later on I did the same. It was worth it. I felt so free and alive. That was the highlight of the trail for sure!
That concludes my day trip!
There's a lot more to do at Lassen. I would love to go back one day and stay longer and possibly explore the Shasta area. The other trails that I wanted to do but did not get to was Kings Creek and Cold Boiling Lake Trail to Bumpass Hell! For now, I say "Til' the next adventure!"
