Day 1
Upington - Hobas 381km/4H17Min
We left Upington at 6:00am and made our way to the Nakop Border post. It’s about a 1H30Min easy drive to get there and because the border is open 24H a day, there doesn’t seem to be too much congestion with getting through. Once we were through the border, we headed out on the B3 towards Grunau where we filled up with fuel, bought a Namibian SIM Card and then headed off on the C12 towards Canyon Roadhouse. We decided to camp for the night, although you can book their other accommodation options too. A quick walk up the hill at the back of the establishment for a sundowner is an absolute ‘must’, and if you’re a keen photographer, head off with your camera to capture the old cars in the late afternoon sunlight as well as in the evenings when a multitude of stars become the backdrop for your project. We stayed at Gondwana Canyon Roadhouse; one of the best-known spots for your first night in Southern Namibia! Their collection of old cars is enough of a reason to go and see this great place, not to mention the great food at their quirky restaurant!
