An overview of fun places to visit during your weekend in Durbuy. This town in eastern Belgium is known for its stone houses and cobbled streets. The Celtic town name is a combination of two words; “dur” (wood) and “bu” (water). This is a perfect name for a town along the river in this green region.
🌇 Start off the day exploring the city. You can park your car at the Parking Centre and walk to the nearest bridge (Moulin à aubes). This point has a nice overview of the castle and leads to the city center.
This parking lot offers a lot of parking places in the shade. A day ticket costs €7,00 and can only be paid by card. A sign at the entree explains how the payment process works.
This spot is a good place to take photos of the castle of Durbuy.

Once you crossed the bridge you are able to see the castle from up close. After which you can walk to the Anticline of Durbuy. This is about a 5-minute walk.
The first Durbuy castle has been build in 889, however, it has been destroyed many times throughout history. The current caste has been around since 1880. The castle is private property and is not open to the public.
Anticlinal is the geological name for this rock with a U shape. This anticline has been around for more than 300 million years.

From the anticline, you can walk through the town. The town consists of stone houses and small streets. There are many boutique stores around the town with special finds. I had a great time in the Antik shop, so would for sure recommend stopping at this shop.
A small shop with different antique objects. From postal cards to plates to home made jewellery.

Halfway the city, below the castle of Durbuy a second, smaller, anticline can be found. From here the central square of the town can be found where different restaurants are located.
Next to the ATM is a small restaurant where they sell delicious waffles, smoothies, and more. A perfect place for a good lunch with an overview of the square.
A smoothie and waffle bar is located next to this ATM. It is a small bar with delicious food and drinks. Good to know... you only can pay with cash here.

🏙️ The afternoon starts off with exploring the rest of the town, until you arrive at the Passerelle de Durbuy, which you can cross to get to the Topiary Park.
For €4,50 this botanical garden can be visited. You get a map with the stories behind each picturesque plant form. It took us about an hour to have seen all the sculptures and read all the stories.

🌃 End the day with some drinks and a nice dinner. I had a great time at the Édouard Garden Café. Since this cafe closes at 6pm on the weekends I went for dinner at the restaurant next door; Le 7 by Juliette.
A cute restaurant in a garden with good food. You can order different small bites to share. I ordered the bruschetta, mini hamburger, fries, and cheese sticks. After this, I found out there was the possibility of ordering different desserts to share :) With a special deal, when ordering all five desserts, you got one for free.

Day 2: Active outdoors
🌇 / 🏙️ The next day starts off with a bit more adventure. In the area, there are different opportunities to do outdoor activities. Adventure Valley (which has a shop at the town square of Durbuy) offers different outdoor adventures from mountain biking to Kayaking and more.
This company offers different outdoor activities for children and adults. Mind the weather! I visited Durbuy in July after a longer period of drought which caused river activities to be closed, due to long river levels.

🌃 To make up for the hard work and burned callories a good meal at Limoni e Tartufi is deserved. This is an Italian restaurant with really good pizzas and pastas.
I had a pizza salami, AMAZING! Also, the location is very cute.

Radhadesh is a beautiful community of spirituality located on the hills in the Belgian Ardennes. This place has a rare combination of European neo-Gothic decor and ancient Eastern culture.
