Rick's Cafe Americain
@1traveler2another
Rick's is by far one of my favourite places to grab a drink on Kloof Street with a view of Table Mountain. The first floor seating is more of a laid back dinner and cafe vibe. With a stunning balcony looking at the mountain and hustling Kloof. The roof is the main event. With unobstructed views of iconic Table Mountain and great food and drinks... and the spiciest jalapeno poppers! They are always super busy so make a booking beforehand and either choose the laid back 1st floor lounge or balcony or the beautiful rooftop seating.

14Stories Rooftop Bar
@1traveler2another
Found this gem while I was staying at the Southern Sun Hotel. Honestly one of the best views from both the indoor and outdoor seating. As the name suggests, this bar is on the 14th Floor, and the views do not disappoint. Seating on all sides of the building so you either have a Sea, Table Mountain, Lions Head and Cape Town City View. The inside seating has a beautiful view of the City and Table Mountain & Lions Head. Highly highly recommend this place for Sundowners, as they do close early. Great place to start the Bar Hopping & get some cute pictures. Or even pre-drinks for your date night. Enter through the Southern Sun Hotel and head to the 14th Floor.

Gigi Rooftop Restaurant & Bar at the Gorgeous George Hotel
@1traveler2another
The trendiest decor that makes all of my interior design dreams come true. A little rooftop garden with tons of seating and of course, the iconic rooftop pool. Gigi's makes gorgeous cocktails and is a must see bar. Especially if you have a cute Girls Night Outfit that you are dying to take some cute instagram pictures in.

Hank's Olde Irish
@1traveler2another
We have dubbed this our local bar in Cape Town. Super laid back either to start the night or end it. Limited seating but this place is super chilled, and sometimes even has a DJ. Nice outdoor area to get some air... just watch out for Cape Town's Massive Rats in the street! LOL Still highly recommend this place. If we go out in Cape Town, we either start or end the night here... or both.

The House of Machines
@1traveler2another
The most laid back bar I have been in here in Cape Town. Super chilled staff and people, unlike alot of places here in the city. They often have great live music, and are purely music focused. A great stop along your pub crawl thanks to its central location. Highly recommend stopping in here for a beer. There is limited space inside and a little bit of on street seating. But the bouncers make you feel safe!

The Power & The Glory
@1traveler2another
I have often driven past the super busy bar on Upper Kloof. Tons of people chatting, laughing and just being people spilling to the outside of the bar. And finally we tried it- and we were not disappointed! We happened to go on a Friday after First Thursdays, so it was super quiet. With 2 floors, and a balcony upstairs, this place seemed massive. On busy nights it can be too overcrowded though. So pick a quiet night or start the night here while it is quiet.

The Athletic Club & Social
@1traveler2another
Cool spot to visit in Cape Town with your mates. Good music. And tons of different vibes for you to choose from. The first floor is a simple bar with outdoor seating, upstairs feels more like a club. Be cautious though... the balcony collapsed in late 2023, luckily no one was fatally injured. But be cautious, especially if there are lots of people there. The downstairs feels like a hidden speakeasy, when you walk in it feels like you've stepped back in time. Cool place!

BLONDIE
@1traveler2another
There will always be a line outside of Blondie. Always. They don't take bookings and it is strictly first come first serve. But it is worth it. With great throwback music and 90s diner interior design, and the iconic yellow! Aesthetic Instagram pics? Get them here! Apparently if you go as they open you can get a seat instead of waiting in line, and have some food- apparently its really good. Dance the night away to ABBA remixes at Blondie on Kloof.

VIXI Social House
@1traveler2another
We stumbled upon this restaurant while we were bar hopping... and were super happy when we found it. Besides for the incredible... and I mean incredible food. Their bar is also worth it! With a disco jungle vibe and delicious cocktails. This bar quickly climbed it's way up the list. Perfect for a sophisticated drink in between your bar hopping excursions.

The Village Idiot
@1traveler2another
The Ostrich Bar. Named after the Legend of Oscar the Ostrich, AKA the Village Idiot. This bar is such a vibe! They have weekly specials, and super interesting decor. Including a lot of Oscar references. They are over 21 and situated on Loop Street. They have good music- to start the night. My only complaint is they always call last round too soon! But this is just the pre-party for Cape Town. PS- keep a look out for their interesting sport decor... including ice skates on the roof above the dance floor... dodgy but anyways.

Cute spot on Kloof Street under the trees with 2 floors. Later at night it can get super busy, so go a bit earlier grab a pizza or sandwich and sit under the trees.

Asoka Restaurant, Bar and Lounge
@1traveler2another
I have only visited Asoka once... and I was on crutches (long story lol) so I wasn't in the best mood. But it was a cool spot with amazing interior decor and a dreamy court yard. However the drinks were really expensive... way above our budget. However tons of Cape Tonians recommend this place- so don't let my biased opinion stop you from visiting. Check it out for yourself- pretty central on Kloof Street.

Zsa Zsa Cape Town
@1traveler2another
Another club centrally located in Cape Town city. I won't lie I have beef with this place. It was more expensive than most other clubs. And it was super busy and felt cramped. The DJ wasn't giving the vibes- even though the music was pretty good. And it was popular with the 30+ crowd. And recommended by many 30+ year olds. Apparently I went on a busy night and I should try again. But if you are over 30 and looking for a place to dance with people your age, here you go! My favourite thing is the many MANY disco balls though! Loved that.

HALO Nightclub ‐ CPT
@1traveler2another
If you are like me, you occasionally want to dance the night away! And Halo, one of Cape Town's newest clubs, is the place to do it! Why you ask? 1. Two Dance Floors so you get to choose what music you want to listen to. 2. Incredible visual effects and interior design. Between the Prism Stage with the iconic Halo and the LED lights, in what we call, The Dungeon, with crazy visuals behind the DJ. 3. It feels like you are entering a space ship as you walk down the red LED stairs and the door opens for you to enter. Its a surreal feeling seeing it for the first time. 4. The LED Wall on the stairs between the two floors with trippy visuals constantly playing. 5. The girls bathrooms- the girlies will understand. I have never been in such nice club bathrooms, both the girls bathrooms downstairs and unisex upstairs. 6. The quality of service, between the hostesses, bartenders, bouncers (Shoutout to Norman the Doorman) and everyone in the club. Highly recommend!!

Modular Club
@1traveler2another
Yet to visit Modular, however I have heard many stories. No photography is allowed inside the club. With hardcore Techno music, and a jol that only gets good around 2am. Most attendees only leave when the sun comes up. Dodgy area so be careful.
