A Quick Intro

St. Maarten & St. Martin, a unique Caribbean island divided between Dutch and French territories, offers a rich blend of cultures, stunning beaches, and a variety of exciting activities.

The island is split into Sint Maarten (Dutch side) and Saint-Martin (French side), with capitals Philipsburg and Marigot respectively. English, Dutch, and French are widely spoken, and both the Euro and US Dollar are accepted (though the US Dollar is preferred).

For the purpose of this 4 day trip, renting a car is highly recommended - keep in mind it ONLY takes about 1.5 hours to drive around the island so having one allows you to find your own adventures along the way. Here’s how to spend a successful 4-day weekend exploring all the island has to offer.

Day 1

Morning: Arrival & Car Rental

Welcome to St. Maarten! When visiting this island we HIGHLY suggest renting a car, especially if you're short on time but want to efficiently explore the island. So rent a car ahead of time or once you arrive at Princess Juliana International Airport. Rental costs average from around $40-$60 per day. You can typically find some cheaper deals via Expedia or by using Paisly (enter your booking confirmation for 15-35% off your rental). Picking up your ride is a easy process and shuttles are available to & from your rental company from the airport making for a efficient pick-up and drop off experience.
