This epic Coastal Roadtrip is one of Australia's most iconic and gorgeous coastal drives from Sydney, starting from the Royal National Park through to the coastal towns of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and even waterside retreat of Jervis Bay in this extended guide. You can customise a 3-5 day trip by choosing among some optional extensions based on how much time you have. Or look at this like a 3 in 1 roadtrip guide that you can do on separate trips!
The trip focuses on experiencing the magic of nature, including must visit lookouts, our favorite sunrise & sunset spots, and loads of adventures and activities. We also added links for activity bookings with timings and our advice for your visit based on the numerous road trips we've been on in the area! The interactive map helps you plan your trip with categories segregating cafes, activities, accommodation and more!

Let's do this! We are so excited for your trip and hope this guide helps plan the best one! This itinerary is made based on a 3 day trip but you can use the optional days to extend to 5 days or more!
Day 1
Early Morning: Royal National Park
Get an early start from Sydney (like 7am) and head 45mins south to Australia's oldest national park with beaches, rainforests and stunning cliffs! There is no fee if you drive through the park but if you are looking to stop and explore the park, there is an entry fee of $12 per vehicle.
There are so many coastal walks you can choose from so depending on the duration of your trip, we suggest stopping by Wattamolla beach or even Governor Game Lookout which is a perfect pit stop for a car tour. If you have 3+ days on this trip then you can even experience a trail or two, our favourite being the Wattamolla to Eagle Rock trail.

Family friendly, white sand beach with a creek, lagoon and waterfall! There is also a picnic area if you want to just enjoy the sand in your toes and experience a slice of the most picturesque beaches in the Royal National Park.
