Thomas Hill
From my TikTok 'Rome on a budget' series, this is the map & itinerary from day 2 for you to follow. How to spend a whole day in Rome with just €20, including 4 meals and 20 attractions to visit. If visiting during the summer, please be wary of the heat and take plenty of water breaks, making use of the hundreds of drinking water fountains around the city.

You’re going to start the day off at one of Rome’s top pastry shops, Le Levain. Coffee, small pizzetta and a pastry, total cost €5.

Le Levain Roma
@tomasrhill
A French patisserie and boulangerie in the heart of Trastevere and now also a short walk from Termini train station. Le Levain is a French style pastry shop serving the most incredible croissants, mini patisserie and many other traditional and innovative pastries and baked goods. Their first shop is in Trastevere, and is a small space with a whole range of delicacies to choose from. Their second and more recently opened shop is on Via Piave, and is more of a cafe. Here you will still have a great selection of sweet and savoury pastries. A significant difference between the two is that the latter serves handmade coffee, whilst the first shop has a self-serve coffee machine. Here I have eaten some of the best pastries I've ever had in Rome

You’ll then take a short walk to Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vittoria, home to another Bernini masterpiece, the Estasi di Santa Teresa.

Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria

Just around the corner, you have the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, an incredible baroque church built out of the ancient Roman Baths, designed by Michelangelo.

Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and Martyrs
@tomasrhill
A basilica and titular church, built inside the ruined figidarium of the Roman baths of Diocletian in Piazza della Repubblica. It was constructed in the 16th century following an original design by Michelangelo. Other architects and artists added to the church over the following centuries. The original building was a bath house until the fall of Rome in the 6th century.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Thomas Hill
Hey! My name is Tom, a Roman obsessed with his city. I was born in Rome and grew up here till the age of 12, before moving to the UK and living there for almost 10 years. I am half Italian (from my mum's side) and half English (dad's side). I still spent a lot of time in Rome and Italy, visiting all my friends and family multiple times a year. I've previously worked as a chef for almost 8 years, including 4 of these in a Michelin recognised Italian restaurant. A few years ago I decided to move back home, as I felt it was the right place for me and where I wanted to be long-term. I now work as a freelance translator. Ever since I came back, I immersed myself in Rome's culinary delights to expand my already significant food & beverage repertoire. In addition, I discovered a new passion for Rome's immense and mesmerising art, including churches, museums, viewpoints and much more. On my page you'll find Rome recommendations of all types, helping you experience my beautiful city to its fullest. TikTok: tomasrhill Instagram: eatdrink_rome
