If you're headed to the Amalfi Coast, Capri is easy as a must-see day trip! It's not hard to get there, but you need to plan a bit to make it the best possible experience.
Logistics
Unless you charter something private, you arrive on Capri by ferry in the Marina Grande. The most popular routes leave from Naples/Napoli, Sorrento, or Positano.Â
I highly recommend pre-reserving your ferry tickets! Tickets to get to Capri especially - there are only a few ferries each hour, and although they're big boats, they fill up!Â
Additionally, give yourself enough time to physically pick up your tickets at the ferry dock. Even with a reservation, you'll have to wait in line with your online confirmation to get paper tickets.Â
Note that the last ferries are usually around 7pm, so you can't stay all evening if you don't plan to sleep on the island!Â
