How to travel around Dubai
Dubai is truly a global city, a place everyone should bucket list to visit as it has something to offer every kind of traveller. Planning a trip to Dubai this winter? Yalla! Let's see how to commute when in the city.
There are various ways to travel around the city depending on your budget and convenience:
1. Dubai Metro
Inexpensive and convenient, the Dubai metro is a favorite with most residents and travellers, as it provides connectivity to most parts of the city, is frequent and affordably priced. For 50AED you can get a silver NOL card with a 7-day validity to conveniently use for your metro travels.
Pro tip : Don't worry if you're unable to use up all of your NOL card balance, and keep it handy for cab payments and park entries as well!
2. Careem / Uber cabs
Uber is present in Dubai but Careem cabs are far more widely used. To hail a cab all you need to do is download the Careem app where you can enter your pick and drop location and get a cab within minutes ( mostly!).
3. Tram
Yes, Dubai has a tram as well! It only runs between Al Sufouh Road from Dubai Marina to the Palm Jumeirah Monorail station. Trips start from 3 AED and is a great way to see the spectacular high rises in Jumeirah.
4. Monorail
The Monorail is a scenic way to discover the Palm Jumeirah, with a round trip ticket with multiple stops costing 35AED. The travel between the last stop is especially scenic for the unbeatable views of The Atlantis Hotel.
5. Hire a car / Bicycle
If you would like greater autonomy over your travel schedules, renting your own vehicle is a good option especially as you can travel farther but bear in mind that parking spots may need to be researched in advance.
