🇱🇹 Vilnius: Gastronomy Guide
🚗 Transportation
From Vilnius Airport (VNO) to the city center, you can either:
🚕 Take a taxi
A transfer from Vilnius Airport (VNO) to the Old Town takes ~ 15 minutes and may cost you ~ 20 € if you take a taxi right there. I would recommend taking an Uber or Bolt ride through the app. It will cost you less (depending on the time of the day it may vary).
🚌 Use public transport
- A fast bus number 3G (runs every 10 min).
- Other busses: numbers 1, 2, or 88 (run every 20-30 min).
- During the night (22:30 to 5:30) take a bus number 88N (runs every 30 min).
🎟️ Tickets & Maps
The best app for public transport in Vilnius is Trafi.
It's easy to use and you can buy the tickets on the app (costs you less than from a driver).
💸 The single ticket cost is 1 € if you buy it from the driver (cash only).
💸 Tickets on the Trafi app:
- Short trips:
30 min - 0,65 €, 60 min - 0,90 €.
- Full days:
1 day - 5 €, 3 days - 8 €, 5 days - 12 €, 10 days - 15 €.
- Long term:
1 month - 29 €, 3 months - 81 €, 6 months - 157 €.

🚨 Make sure to activate the ticket when you enter the bus or trolley. There are many passenger controls on the road (red busses with the name "Keleivių kontrolė").
Use this app👇🏽 to see where is the passenger control, lost & found items, and more important information (real-time, but there can be some errors sometimes).
How to activate your ticket?
🎟️ Put a stamp in the special box in the bus.
🎟️ If you're using Trafi app, click "Tickets" --> "Buy tickets" or if you bought already, then "My tickets" --> choose the one you need (30 min, 60 min, 3 days, and so on) --> "Activate".

💰 Tipping
Leaving tips are very common in Lithuania. If you liked the service and dishes, not less than 10% is a fair amount to tip.
📲 eSIM
During travels, I always have eSIM that allows me to access the Internet from any country and avoid paying expensive roaming charges.
I usually take a monthly plan in a specific country or Europe but you can choose from different plans depending on your travel.
⏰ The best time to visit
For a pleasant stay and sightseeing, I would recommend visiting Lithuania from May to September when the weather is warm. Wintertime is beautiful for its snowy landscape but it gets very cold (up to -25 °C).
