🚗 Transportation

From Vilnius Airport (VNO) to the city center, you can either:

🚕 Take a taxi

A transfer from Vilnius Airport (VNO) to the Old Town takes ~ 15 minutes and may cost you ~ 20 € if you take a taxi right there. I would recommend taking an Uber or Bolt ride through the app. It will cost you less (depending on the time of the day it may vary).

🚌 Use public transport

- A fast bus number 3G (runs every 10 min).

- Other busses: numbers 1, 2, or 88 (run every 20-30 min).

- During the night (22:30 to 5:30) take a bus number 88N (runs every 30 min).

🎟️ Tickets & Maps

The best app for public transport in Vilnius is Trafi.

It's easy to use and you can buy the tickets on the app (costs you less than from a driver).

💸 The single ticket cost is 1 € if you buy it from the driver (cash only).

💸 Tickets on the Trafi app:

- Short trips:

30 min - 0,65 €, 60 min - 0,90 €.

- Full days:

1 day - 5 €, 3 days - 8 €, 5 days - 12 €, 10 days - 15 €.

- Long term:

1 month - 29 €, 3 months - 81 €, 6 months - 157 €.

For a discounted price, check this 👇🏽

🚨 Make sure to activate the ticket when you enter the bus or trolley. There are many passenger controls on the road (red busses with the name "Keleivių kontrolė").

Use this app👇🏽 to see where is the passenger control, lost & found items, and more important information (real-time, but there can be some errors sometimes).

How to activate your ticket?

🎟️ Put a stamp in the special box in the bus.

🎟️ If you're using Trafi app, click "Tickets" --> "Buy tickets" or if you bought already, then "My tickets" --> choose the one you need (30 min, 60 min, 3 days, and so on) --> "Activate".

🏩 Hotels

Here you can find a carefully selected list of hotels, based on the following:

- Less than 1.5 km from the city center

- 4-star and 5-star hotels

- At least 8.0 rating

Budget - $  (up to 70 €/night)

These hotels fits into this category because of the price, but the value you get, you'll be surprised! My top picks that will exceed your expectations!

Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius
@aventurera
My favorite and #1 hotel in Vilnius! The breakfast is amazing, so you shouldn't miss it even if you are not staying in the hotel. I would recommend booking Bubblecious Brunch for the weekend and the afternoon tea on any day (make sure to book at least a day before)! They have vegan and vegetarian options, so you can fully enjoy them. Besides, instead of Champagne, you can try Sparkling Tea (white or pink) which is non-alcoholic and goes super well with afternoon tea! This hotel also offers SPA and treatment options, a gym, conference rooms, place to hold events. TIP: Make sure to enter the lobby and enjoy the most amazing Christmas Tree! It's always much more beautiful than the cities' Christmas Trees! If you have any questions - please contact me and I will share more!

It's a chocolate shop and cafe. Perfect for buying handmade chocolate delicacies (idea as a gift) or trying some of them while sipping a cup of coffee. MUST TRY: Almost everything! All tastes are interesting to try and the bites are small. But definitely recommend trying chocolate truffles (sorry, not those amazing mushrooms 😅).

🍴 Must try dishes

You can't say you've been to Lithuania if you haven't tried these dishes:

- Cepelinai (Potato dumplings filled with minced meat)

- Šaltibarščiai (Cold beetroot soup)

- Kepta duona (Fried bread with garlic)

- Bulviniai blynai (Potato pancakes)

- Varškėčiai (Cottage cheese pancakes)

- Žirniai su spirgučiais (Peas with fried bacon) - great combo with a beer

- Kibinai (Meat-filled pastries)

- Obuolių bei varškės pyragai (Apple and cottage cheese pies)

- Šakotis (Honey tree cake)

You should also try some Lithuanian traditional products:

- Džiugas hard cheese (Lactose-free, Lithuanian type of Parmigiano)

💰 Tipping

Leaving tips are very common in Lithuania. If you liked the service and dishes, not less than 10% is a fair amount to tip.

📲 eSIM

During travels, I always have eSIM that allows me to access the Internet from any country and avoid paying expensive roaming charges.

I usually take a monthly plan in a specific country or Europe but you can choose from different plans depending on your travel.

⏰  The best time to visit

For a pleasant stay and sightseeing, I would recommend visiting Lithuania from May to September when the weather is warm. Wintertime is beautiful for its snowy landscape but it gets very cold (up to -25 °C).
