Probably Jackson’s most popular restaurant (good enough to also now have locations in Memphis and Nashville). Inventive pizza joint but also great for local beer, entrees, and brunch. We’re fans of the Smoker’s Pie, Get Lift’d, Jalepestroni, and Super Freak pies, and my husband’s favorite beer is the Highland Campfire.

One of the most unique Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to, primarily because of their spit meat (particularly the al pastor). My husband lives for the Baja burrito.

Located in Union University’s beautiful Logos Library. I always get a caramel latte or cappuccino, and the $2.50 pastries are incredible. (Pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, thank you very much.) Serves San Antonio-based TAG Coffee.

Jackson’s most iconic spot, mostly occupied on Saturday mornings. Best known for the donuts as big as your head made fresh by the Amish community, as well as empanada truck La Cubanita.

A nonprofit cafe that grows their own food and employs the homeless. Only open for weekday lunches, but each day has a unique menu, always including vegetarian and vegan options. A true Jackson gem I wish I could dine at every single day.

Hands-down our favorite spot. We always split a chicken Pad Thai and shrimp fried rice, and it never gets old. Plus, you can choose your preferred level of spice on a 1-10 scale.
