Izakaya Local Osaka💗
Hiro Nakanishi
There are millions of Izakaya in downtown Osaka. Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant serving many small dishes that go very well with beer and Japanese sake.
Most of these restaurants are not popular among foreign tourists. So they don't have English menus available. And most of the staff don't speak English.
So it's difficult to order your food and drinks. But you can use Google Translate, and I hope it is ok.
Please let me know if you need any help or want a tour guide. I'd love to help you :)

Kadoya
@hironakanishi
Long time my favorite Izakaya in Osaka. Their specialty is "Tonkotsu" - pig's feet. It's super soft and has a lot of collagen, which is good for your skin.
And their "Horumon" barbeque has a lot of variety! My favorite is always "Harami," but it's rapidly sold out daily.
I've heard this from a salesperson of the Asahi beer company. Kadoya sells the most amount of Asahi Super Dry beer in Osaka! That's amazing!! You should order Asahi beer here :)
After finishing the meal and drink, you can ask for "SOUP" for free. It also contains a lot of collagen. SUPER GOOD!

Hyakuban
@hironakanishi
When I started going out for drinks with friends in Osaka, we always went to "Hyakuban." It's a chain of Izakaya company, and there were many more back in the 1980s.
There are still some of them left in Osaka. Sometimes I take my friends and family there, enjoying their classic Izakaya menu.
My favorite is "Surume Tempura" - dried squid tempura. It's a must to order there.
Every time I visit there, I have a nostalgic feeling that I became a high school student again - back to the lovely old happy life :)

Akagakiya Honten
@hironakanishi
I come here whenever I go out for drinks with my colleagues in Osaka. It's on the 2nd floor of the Akagakiya HQ building, very close to all lines of Namba station.
We order food and drink by touch panels, which are unavailable in English. So it might be a little tricky for you to order.
No worries! Staffs there are super nice and friendly. They can help you order.
Their typical Japanese small Izakaya dishes are excellent. Even for me, a Japanese guy, I'm amazed at their food and drink.
The price is super reasonable. Every time I go there, I've never spent more than 3000 yen, including food and drink.

Ippoutei
@hironakanishi
I've been to this place more than 100 times. The first time, my colleague at the company took me there for lunch.
Their specialty is "Shumai," - a Chinese dumpling.
Of course, we can eat it there, but it's also famous for TO GO.
My parents always ask me to get their SUMAI to go whenever I visit Osaka from Nara.
I hope you'll all enjoy their SUMAI and other Chinese dishes, too!

I love this place very much. The best thing is - they're open from 8:00 am the morning :)
So when I have a weekday off, I take an early train and visit there. Sometimes I enjoy their food and drink and sometimes I meet lovely and interesting people there.
Their specialty is "Horumon" - the inner guts of pork and beef. Some people say it's disgusting and don't like it, but I love it!!
I hope you'll like it, too :)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hiro Nakanishi
Hello! My name is Hiro!
I was born in Nara, grew up in Osaka, and worked in Tokoyo for 11 years as a construction company salesperson. And I decided to move back to Nara, worked for the same company for another five years, and quit.
I started running my coffee shop in 2008. And besides that, I started hosting foreign tourists at my coffee shop on the CouchSurfing platform. As a result, I hosted more than 200 tourists from 60 countries in 2 years. This was the beginning of my life related to the tourism industry.
Later, I started hosting people on my bike tour on the Airbnb Experience platform in 2018. So I did more than 1000 tours in 2 years. And COVID hit the world.
During the COVID time, I did Amazon Explore and Heygo virtual tours. But after COVID ended, these two services were shut down. However, these services helped me mentally and financially during the COVID.
So now, after COVID, I started hosting people on my bike tour, and I also started running a coffee shop in Kyoto.
I love meeting people worldwide, hosting people, and making them feel at home and happy. THIS JOB IS WHAT I HAVE WANTED TO DO FOR A LONG TIME!
I hope my thatch information will help me and you'll enjoy your stay in Japan! And I'm looking forward to seeing you someday in the future!
