Thrill-Seeking in Rome, Italy

Thrill-Seeking in Rome, Italy

I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie and when I travel, I look for at least one thrill-seeking activity. I found one of the longest and fastest zip lines in the world and it's just outside of Rome! However, finding my way outside of Rome to this small commune was not easy as this isn't your typical Rome tourist activity! That's why I made this guide to help my fellow thrill-seekers. This guide is part of my 12 day trip to Italy as a solo female foodie thrill seeker that I took back in March 2022. It details a one day trip in and around Rome and includes: ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Hostel experience ๐Ÿš† Transportation tips ๐Ÿด Local + non-touristy spots to eat at ๐Ÿž๏ธ Scenic photo spots ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธRome city center walking tour

Before You Go...

If you get motion sickness, take some medicine before you leave. The ride to Flying in the Sky is okay but kind of curvy. After you go on the zip line, you are at the bottom and have to travel back to the top and that is very curvy and bumpy.ย

Flying in the Sky

Flying in the Sky is located in Rocca Massima, which is about an hour away from Rome. It is said to be the longest and fastest zip line in the world. It's 7,300 feet long and 2,395 feet high. You fly down the beautiful scenery of Italy at speeds up to 99 miles per hour in a super-hero style.ย

There is no direct train to Rocca Massima. I had to take a train to Cisterna di Latina and get picked up by one of the staff members at Flying in the Sky.

๐Ÿš† Travel to Cisterna di Latina in the Morningย

You can travel by car, but that wasn't a cost-efficient option for me as I was traveling alone and was only going to be in Rome for a couple of days. Taking a train was the best way, but there isn't a direct way to get from Rome to Rocca Massima. The locals didn't really know how to help me because they had not been there before.ย

To me, life is a compilation of experiments with a goal towards self-discovery. I value personal growth and adventure through travel and hope to service others in their own journey. Being up for experimenting and trying new things wasn't always the case. I was a perfectionist who did not want to mess up in fear of rejection and damaging my self-worth. It took a lot of self-love and patience to build the confidence that I have today. I worked my way up from a completely guided tour to living abroad alone in a van. See my timeline below. If I can do it, you can do it and I'm here to help support you through that. Travel History: 2005 - First international trip to Vietnam (with the family) 2013 - South America for the first time for a study abroad trip in Bolivia 2017 - Guided solo trip (2 months in Vietnam) 2020 - Couples trip to Canada (ended early because of COVID ๐Ÿ˜ข) 2022 - Improvised solo trips to Italy and Vietnam 2023 - Moved abroad alone to New Zealand...and started living in a campervan full-time Cheers, Mai
