Hikes and Walks

Slieve Donard
@lisa_underwater
The Slieve Donard circular route is an 8.9km out and back hike that is quite challenging at times. Park at the Slieve Donard Parking and follow the river, all the way to the saddle of the mountain. The paths are clear though not sign posted. From the saddle the path climbs quite steeply, you then get some amazing iews before climbing beside the Mourn wall. This is the steepest and most challenging section of the climb. Slieve Donard is Northern Irelands highest peak and on a clear day can offer great views of the surrounding countryside. Good hiking boots, waterproofs and layers recommended. See AllTrails link for details about the hike, where it starts etc. Bring a swimsuit, the river has loads of lovely places to swim!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hello and welcome to my guides! My name is Lisa, I'm born and raised on the West coast of Ireland and have explored Ireland very thoroughly through road-trips, hikes and days out and about. I have also travelled Europe quite extensively and have spent many months living and traveling in various European countries (Norway, Portugal, Sicily, Italy etc). I have a passion for photography, so if that's your thing I can recommend some exceptional spots both in Ireland and abroad. I am keen on water sports including surfing, snorkling and scuba diving as well as wild swimming and kayaking.
