Turkey: Coastlines & Cappadocia

Turkey: Coastlines & Cappadocia

One of my favourite countries to date (which says a lot) I am thrilled to share my complete guide to Western Turkey!! I completed this itinerary in 2.5 weeks. It's fast paced, but perfectly timed, I think. There wasn't a single thing I felt was missed or needed extra time to explore. I recommend starting and ending in istanbul, making it a complete circle. In this itinerary you will experience: - The vibrant city that connects Europe to Asia, Istanbul. - Underground cities, hot air balloons, and fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. - The shimmering, turquoise waters of the West Coast through boat trips and The Blue Lagoon. - Natural wonders of the world, and countless UNESCO world heritage sites. - The Capital city, Ankara. - Ancient Roman cities such as Ephesus, Troy, Olympos, and Hierapolis. - Interactive and engaging activities such as Bustling bazaars, carpet weaving workshops, and Turkish performances. - Natural phenomenons such as calcium pools of Pamukkale, and infinite fire in Olympos. - and much more! Follow your curiosity and spend 2.5 weeks discovering the culture and natural beauty of this fascinating region. This guide is complete with 65 places + bonus tips to make your trip unforgettable!

Istanbul:

Gosh, writing this blog I want to go back, so badly. I've always preferred to explore new countries rather than revisit countries I've been, but that is SO not the case with Turkey. I could never get tired of it and would love to visit again very soon.

Let's talk Istanbul. It's a very walkable city in the 2-3 days I recommend you have here. I would recommend splitting your time up via geographical location: Karakoy side, Old Town side, and Asian side if time. I wanted to visit the Asian side, but found so much to explore on the european side, I opted to stay and explore it to the full extent.

I recommend staying in Karakoy. It's a bustling area that's filled with culture and tons of things to explore. Shake off the Jet Lag by staying close to your accommodation and explore Karakoy on your first day.

I highly recommend taking a boat cruise down the Bosphorus one evening at sunset and watch the city light up from the water. Add it onto the end of whichever day you feel you have time and energy. You can simply walk along the water in Karakoy neighbourhood and there will be tons of boat options to choose from.

Karakoy (Day 1):

Galata Tower
@danielleevans
A beautiful tower and small area of Karakoy. Walk up and down all the little streets surrounding the tower and DON'T forget to try San Sebastian Cheesecake. I chose a restaurant right beside the tower to eat my cheesecake with a view. It was magical.

Personal favorite: Baklava called "Şöbiyet" ( with pistachio and clotted cream inside). An advice: Always consume baklava with tea or coffee (as it is-without adding sugar) Max 2 piece of baklava per person :)
