1. Le Pouce Montain

Starting with the easiest hike of this guide, Le Pouce is the third highest peak on the island standing at a height of 812 meters. It is one of the most symbolic and iconic mountains in Mauritius.

Once, one Mauritian told me “Is the first hike of every Mauritian”.

Basic Information:

Even though is the easiest one, has been one of my favourite. The hike is no more than 4.5 kilometres you will need around 2/2.5 hours to complete the whole route, so it is the perfect hike one to make with kids, friends and family due to it doesn´t request a high level of hiking knowledge and sport capacity.

Le Pouce is located in the central region of the Island on the area of Moka, having wonderful views of the capital city of Port Louis.

The mountain name Le Pouce “The Thumb” is because of the thumb-shaped peak of the mountain.
