This has to be my favourite activity we did the entire weekend! The Red and Fleet will take you on a beautiful bay cruise to the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island! The cost is $38USD and lasts around 1 hour. I’d highly suggest doing a sunset cruise. You’ll get the most stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge! Tip: You can purchase a bundled ticket for $108 and it includes the cruise, the hop on/hop off bus, and the sky wheel!

On day two of your San Francisco itinerary, start by exploring the most famous jail in the country, Alcatraz!!

Alcatraz Island

Visiting Alcatraz Island offers a fascinating journey through history as you explore the infamous former prison, once home to notorious criminals like Al Capone. The island features a self-guided audio tour, narrated by former inmates and guards, providing a vivid glimpse into life behind bars. Besides its intriguing past, Alcatraz also offers stunning views of San Francisco Bay, lush gardens, and diverse wildlife, making it a unique and memorable experience. Be sure to book tickets in advance, as this popular attraction often sells out!! Here are some more details: 💵We paid $45USD and this included the round trip ferry ride, tickets to Alcatraz itself, and the audio tour guide. 🚢We booked our tour through Alcatraz City Cruises. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, during peak seasons they will sell out! Their boats depart from Pier 33 and it was recommended to arrive 45 minutes before our departure time. The pier had some cool informative outdoor exhibits to learn about Alcatraz while you await your departure! The ride to Alcatraz takes approximately 15 minutes. 🪨Once you arrive at the island, you’ll have to climb a bit of a hill to reach the actual prison complex! Once you arrive, pick up your audio guide and begin your self-guided tour! ⏰I’d recommend allowing 2-3 hours here! There’s lots to explore and you can also enjoy some beautiful views of the city and Golden Gate Bridge. From its intriguing past to its stunning views of San Francisco, a visit to Alcatraz is an experience like no other!

You HAVE to try this spot in Fisherman’s Wharf! It’s honestly one of the most delicious restaurants I’ve ever been! Most known for their sourdough bread, Boudin is one of the oldest businesses in San Francisco! We ate almost every meal here and it seriously did not disappoint! They have a take out portion but they also have a sit down restaurant too! I suggest trying both!

Muir Woods National Monument

Located in Marin County, California, Muir Woods is a beautiful ancient redwood forest that offers a serene escape into nature with towering trees, tranquil walking paths, and rich biodiversity. 📍Muir Woods National Monument, California (just north of San Francisco)🇺🇸 ⏰The park is open 365 days a year and hours are typically from 8am-sunset! The park is beautiful year round! We went in December and had great weather! 💸There is an entrance fee of $15 per person to enter the park! There is also a $9 parking reservation fee that must be reserved ahead of time! ‼️There is NO cell service in the park! Just keep this in mind if you are ubering there or need maps! 🥾There’s 6 miles of trails at Muir Woods, including 3 loops that vary in length! You can also hike the trails that surround the park and extend into Mount Tamalpais State Park! ‼️MORE INFO⬇️ 🌲Getting There: There are many ways to get to the park! You can drive, take the seasonal shuttle (from off site parking lots), ride shares/taxis, and public transport! 🌲Amenities: There’s a visitor center, gift shop, and cafe! Make sure to bring your own food/snacks, the food in the cafe was quite pricey. 🌲Weather: The weather can be cool and foggy, even in the summer! Make sure to dress in layers!
