Staying away from the hustle and bustle here can seem like a daunting task. While the area is known for its luxury resorts and wild nightlife, there is so much to discover on the outside of the tourist areas.
This guide will take you to some of my favourite local dining and bar spots in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. From traditional mexican dishes, local seafood, world cuisine, draft beer and intricate cocktails —there is something here for every traveller.

The owner and chef, Gupta, offers the best authentic indian cuisine in the city. With a wide range of vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu, it has become a popular spot and recently moved to a new location. I especially love the butter chicken!

My go-to seafood restaurant. It’s a super local palapa, well away from the crowds, and the menu is spanish only. That’s how you know it’s legit! For a little bit of everything try the molcajete, or go for a taco dish or ceviche. Super cheap for budget travelers.
