Moorea - French Polynesia : 5 Day Itinerary

Land on Tahiti and reach Moorea by ferry. 

**Destination**: Spend time relaxing at the beach. The best one for sunset is the Public beach at Ta’ahiamanu. You can park your scooter right close to the beach.

**Morning**: Enjoy breathtaking mountain views.

**Watch the sunset on the beach. Grab a blanket and enjoy the vibrant hues of the sunset over the ocean. 

**Morning**: Visit the beach next to the Sofitel. 

** Lunch at one of the best Roulotte in Moorea, right next to the beach. Great fresh food and good portion, try different dishes. The sell also homemade honey.

**Afternoon**: Unwind at a Hauru Public BeachAfter  after an adventurous morning.

**Morning**: relax, slow morning buy some food from the supermarket. 

**Afternoon**:  do a picnic at the beach. As the Plage des Tipaniers is private you can enter the hotel Les Tipaniers and rent a kayak for 5$ and kayak towards the busy spot of stingrays and reef sharks. 

**Activity**: Explore the south side of the island. Discover hidden gems, local shops, and stunning views along the way.

**Sleep at the campsite:  Ravehei Smile 2 Moorea (the most affordable option on the island). You can find it on Booking, and they offer tent rentals. The facilities are very basic, and the road to reach it is rough, but you’ll sleep next to a river and under the stars. The owners are very sweet.

The morning tour is recommended for fewer crowds and a more serene experience.

This area is known for its stunning views and inviting waters.

The beach is free and there is parking. Make sure to put a chain on your scooter, always.

**Activity**: Rent a scooter  right in front of the ferry terminal. Nothing beats the freedom of two wheels as you navigate the scenic roads of Moorea.

You have to pay 200 xpf per person at the take out restaurant at the beginning of the trail. The views of the lagoon from the top are amazing. 

**Lunch**: Make a pit stop at Snack Mahana for a Delicious local meal. Their food is a must-try! You can see stingrays, sharks and puffer fishes right in front of the restaurant.

**Afternoon**: Relax at Hahuru Public Beach. This serene spot is perfect for lounging and enjoying the crystal-clear waters.  

**Lunch: Some restaurants are worth going out of your way to dine in, and Coco Beach in Moorea is one of them. 

Head towards the Magic Mountain overlook.

 This hike offers nice view while at the top and very much worth it if you love hiking. Its a very steep trek, it’s all paved, so if its raining, you should be ok.

Day 6: Drive around south and West sid‌e

Nestled along the shores of one of the islets at the edge of the barrier reef (motu), dining at Coco Beach is not only a meal but also an experience. Unless you want to kayak there, book return boat transfers when making a reservation, and bring along some beach and snorkeling gear because you’ll want to stick around for a while. 

Drop your backpacks at the campsite or at your airbnb and start exploring the island. 

Try to arrive in the morning to have enjoy the full day on the island.

 Be sure to stop at the lookout points for Instagram-worthy photos!  If you rent a 125cc scooter you can make it all the way up to the viewpoint of the Three Pines Lookout. Alternatively if you rent a 50c, you can leave the scooter at the bottom and you can walk up. 

Tiki Show – There are two options for tiki shows on Moorea.

 The more touristy option is at the cultural centre to the southwest of the island which is a little pricey but includes a full dinner buffet.

Ia’Orana (ee-your-rah-nah) is the Polynesian phrase for ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’, 

Nana (nah-nah) is the Polynesian phrase for ‘goodbye’

Maruru (mah-roo-roo) is the Polynesian phrase for ‘thank you’.

Poisson Cru (pwuh-son-crew) is a traditional Polynesian dish that you’ll see everywhere consisting of fish that is flash cured in coconut milk and citrus, similar to ceviche.

Roulette (who-luht) means food truck and is a huge part of Polynesian dining culture.

Mai Tai (may tay) means something similar to ‘what's up’ and ‘all good but is also the name of the classic Polynesian cocktail.
