Bacalar is located in the southern part of Quintana Roo state, in southeast Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.

Day 1:

Morning: 

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at La Playita, a charming waterfront restaurant known for its tasty Mexican dishes and beautiful views of the lagoon.

The easiest way to get to the cenote is by driving or renting a car. It's around 11 mins drive from our breakfast stop. 

For lunch:

Try Pizzeria Bertilla Y Luciano, a cozy spot that serves mouthwatering wood-fired pizzas and other Italian delights.

Afteroon:

Explore the Bacalar Fort, also known as Fuerte de San Felipe. Learn about the history of the region and enjoy panoramic views of the lagoon from the fort's watchtowers.

Evening:

Enjoy a sunset boat tour on Bacalar Lagoon. Marvel at the changing colors of the water and soak in the tranquility of the surroundings. 

Here's one example how the tours look like:

P.S. You can find plenty of tour options throughout the town. When I was choosing the one for myself I checked a few places and compared prices. Most of them are more or less the same and offer similar prices. 

For dinner:

Head to Mr. Taco, for the best tacos in town for a great price (cash only)! It usually is extra busy so don't be shy if asked to share a table with strangers.

Day 2:

Morning:

Early morning today as we're heading to the lagoon to watch the sunrise.

Even if you're not a morning person, this sunrise will be worth it!

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Panaderia La Tartaleta. Their coffee and sandwiches are amazing!

After breakfast:

Head to cenote Esmeralda which is located within the lagoon. It is considered as one of the most admirable natural viewpoints that are located around Bacalar Lagoon.

For lunch:

Head to Mango and Chile, a 100% plant-based restaurant serving burgers, tacos, salads, and more. Its location has an outstanding views on Bacalar Lagoon.

Explore the Bacalar Ecological Park. The admission costs 20$ (Mexican pesos), and you can swim there so don't forget your swimsuit and snorkeling gear.
