1. How to get to Machu Picchu
To go to Machu Picchu from Cusco you can choose different options. The most touristy is the train.
You can buy your ticket at PeruRail or IncaRail, the two companies that offer the service.
If you travel during high season (June to August), it is recommended that you buy tickets online a month in advance. If you travel outside of those months, you can buy them a few days before without problems.
In that case, for example, you can take advantage of your stopover at the Lima airport to go to the PeruRail stand and buy your train ticket.

You will arrive at this Airport, the access to Peru from other countries. And then, you need to fly to Cusco in an hour's flight.

In the low season (January to April) a “bimodal service” is offered, that is, bus + train.

Hi! I'm a journalist and travel content from Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a digital nomad, I like to do slow travel and stay long in places I connect with.
I've been traveling since July 2021 as a solo traveler. I encourage women to travel solo too!
I love to discover new places, have off-guide experiences, and enjoy my own company around the world.
Also, I'm vegan and a coffee lover, so I can recommend places to eat plant-based and the best coffees in town!
Currently live in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru, and I feel like a local woman already!
