🇫🇷 Tasting France: Nice, French Riviera
I love Nice as a baseline for exploring the French Riviera/Côte d'Azur because it offers the perks of a city combined with great beach access and easy trains to nearby small towns.
But the real perk: so many fantastic restaurants!
What to Try in Nice
Nice is part of the Provence region of France, so eating at any authentic Provencal restaurant is a great choice! Because of its coastal location, Nice also has its own unique food traditions. It's called cuisine Nissarde, and it combines its Provencal baseline with coastal and Italian influences.
🥗Niçoise salad: Pronounced "neese-swa," the salad is named after the city! It includes tomatoes, boiled eggs, olives and anchovies. It's a great choice on a hot day!
🥙 Pan bagnat: basically a Niçoise salad on a bun. Easy quick meal.
🫓 Socca: a chickpea pancake! It's best as a street food lunch, and it's a cheap option when you need a snack.
