Falling for Colorado Campsites
Day 1: The Plains
Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a pretty campground off the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. The sun setting through the trees was spectacular, the clear sky and limited lights provided epic star gazing, and the outdoor farm museum was a great place to take a stroll in the morning. Our only gripe was that the peace and quiet was occasionally interrupted by the sound of semitrucks laying on their jake brakes throughout the night, so pack earplugs.
Day 2: Colroado Springs
Some of the best laid plans can always go awry and that is exactly what happened here. Late in the day we learned that our close to town campground option, our secondary primitive campground option, and our third dispersed campsite option had either closed early for the season or due to a prescribed burn in the area - so improvise, adapt, and overcome (and get a hotel)! Maybe you will have better luck.
