This guide is created for runners traveling to Brussels for the Half or Full Marathon. It includes important race information along with restaurants, hotels, and free toilets for runners.
I also suggest taking some time to read my full review of the Brussels Half Marathon. This offers detailed insight to the race and what to expect as a runner.
If you are looking to walk around Brussels for a day, and also want to talk lots of stops to relax, I suggest following this walk that I created. It hits all of the major sights, and if done slowly should take a couple of hours. I think it's a great way to see the city, without overexerting your legs.
Reservations required
This Middle Eastern Restaurant in the center of Brussels offers Vegetarian, Vegan, and meat dishes. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, but be warned the music can be a bit loud.
An excellent pizza shop next to the Cinquantenaire Park. The ingredients are all fresh with a mixture of classic options and seasonal pizza toppings. They also have vegan options.
This upscale Vegetarian restaurant offers a four course tasting menu for dinner for only 42 euros. With optional meat add-ons, the restaurant can cater to all dietary preferences.
If you want to try Belgian Waffles (and I know you do) this is a great choice. Maison Dandoy is a bit overpriced compared to other waffle spots, but the waffles are good and the ambiance of eating inside the Galerie is unmatched.
Similar to the rest of the easyHotels around Europe, the easyHotel in Brussels is a simple, no thrills hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but the location is right in the heart of the city. If you want a fancy hotel, this is not it. If you want a cheap, but clean, hotel, this is a great choice.
If you are looking for a nicer hotel option, the Hotel NH chain is always a great stay. I’ve stayed at multiple locations across Europe and they are always wonderful. In addition, this is a great choice for runners because there are a few around Brussels, which means you can use their various bathrooms while you are upping your water intake pre-race.

Free Bathrooms
A nice feature around Brussels is that city officials have worked with local restaurants and cafes to create a selection of free bathrooms across the city. The restaurant allows there toilets to be used for free, and the city in return gives them a stipend to cover cleaning costs. While the full list of toilets can be found below, I went through and pulled out the ones located near popular landmarks and destinations.

I'm Sadie, a travel advisor for runners. Through running a half marathon every month of 2023 in a new country, I rediscovered my love of running. I also experienced just how many differences there are between traveling for pleasure and to run.
Now I help fellow runners plan dreamy vacations to Europe for races - either solo, with their support crew, or their running club.
I also create useful free guides for runners planning half or full marathons across Europe.
