The best of the Cotswolds one day road-trip
Start in Bourton on the water
Lets start the day in Bourton-on-water which is a very famous town in the Cotswolds. Arrive promptly in the morning around 8:30am (9am would be okay in the winter) or earlier if you like to explore before the coaches of tourists arrive in the summer months. If you arrive early enough, there are a few free parking spaces outside the shops with a limited time of an hour which is enough time if you are just walking around. But there is a very large car park located on station road which is only a 5 minute walk awway. There are plenty of shops to keep you busy in the morning and even the local Cotswold distillary if you are after an alcoholic beverage to take home with you.
For a mid-morning coffee and cake break I would reccommend the Bakery on the water. They serve tastey fresh cakes and pasteries and I highly recommend the victoria sponge cake.
If you are into your motor vehicles, or even if you are not, then the motor museum in Bourton is definetly worth a visit. It is a fascinating journey through the 20th century that the whole family can enjoy. I also quite like the the bush shaped into a car, a mini maybe? outside the front of the museum, so you definetly won't miss it.
