Transportation

Taipei Main Station
@deleteduser4294966579
Taipei Main Station is the main train and bus station in Taipei. From Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA), Taipei Metro, and bus service all available on Taipei Main Station. Taiwan High Speed Rail runs from several station across Taiwan's western part, trains runs from Taipei Nangang to Kaoshiung Zuoying. The trip from Nangang to Kaoshiung would take around 2 hours. Taipei Main Station itself is THSR second stop after Taipei Nangang Station. As a tourist you`ll be eligible to buy tourist pass ticket which costed around 1500NTD for three days unlimited pass on HSR. The ticket could be purchased on the concierged at the HSR station or through travel app such as KLOOK. However, if you aren't in rush you can choose other train mode, in this case the TRA train, to travel from Taipei to Kaoshiung. Moreover, if you are havibg more flexible trip schedule you could take a roughly five to six hours trip by bus. Back then, I was taking the Puyuma Express the three hours and 40 minutes trip from Taipei to Kaoshiung for 843NTD. The THSR and TRA gate itself is located close next to each other, however if you mind to take the bus you should walk through the mall area upstair and find the gate for the bus station - all under one roof!

HSR Zuoying Station

For the trip back to Taipei I took the HSR from Zuoying HSR Station to Taipei Main Station. The HSR ticket costed me more than 1200NTD, however this trip cut my travel time, reaching Taipei in less than 2 hours! The Zuoying HSR Station also connected to Kaoshiung MRT Red Line.

Accomodation

Sky One hotel
@deleteduser4294966579
I was staying at the Sky One Hotel, a three star hotel located in Qianjin District. I booked this hotel through Agoda for two nights and back then they offered cashback program which is super good! Sky One Hotel location was super strategic, by three minutes walk you could reach the City Council MRT Station and less then five minutes from popular night market in Kaoshiung, the Liuhe Night Market. For two nights I got the price less than 1200NTD and got 50NTD cashback which I recieved two months after I completed my stay there. The room I rented itself could accomodate up to two adult so if you’re happened to invite you friend to travel together you could actually get a lot more cheaper price!

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas

Must visit pagoda in Kaoshiung, unique architecture, magnificent day and night. If you're not in hurry you could consider to take TRA local train to Zuoying Station since it's the closest train stop to the pagoda. However, for short visit, taking the MRT to the Ecological District Station would be a great idea. The time scheduled of MRT is reliable and after that you could resume the trip by using U-Bike for around 20 minutes. The scenic of park and pond next to the pagoda are also worth mentioning!

Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts
@deleteduser4294966579
Hoping by to this museum since there's TRA station which bearing it's time! However, the TRA Station is still quite far from the actual entrance, hence you could take the Kaoshiung LRT to Fine Arts of Museum Station to get better connection. The ticket price of this museum itself is quite affordable as far as I remembered less than 100NTD for general tourist. Consists of three floor, it offer many type of fine and modern art.

The British Consulate at Takow
@deleteduser4294966579
Important to highlight that this place is close on Monday and the entrance gate is located up above. I miss to go inside since I happened to be there on Monday, but the view outside was stunning. You could take the bike to reach this place from the nearest MRT station available, the Sizhiwan Station. My tips, consider use or buy the iPass MRT Card, you can get free U-Bike ride for the first 30 minute, this will save you 5NTD for U-Bike trip in Kaoshiung area (and as far as I heard in Southern Taiwan area). Trust me you might use U-Bike many trips in Kaoshiung! The bike trip from Sizihiwan Station to this place took around 20 minutes but you’ll enjoy scenic view throughout the journey!

In rush to catch the HSR? Don't worry you could buy a meal or souvenir at this mall. I was having a great ramen at their food court. You can take TRA to Xin Zuoying Station or MRT to Zuoying HSR Station. You'll find this mall as soon as you exit the underground.

Food to Try!

Dain-Dain Hamburger Cisian
@deleteduser4294966579
The burger chain which you could only find in Southern Taiwan (Tainan and Kaoshiung). The chicken burger was SUPER juicy. Like it was the best burger I ever had. Other thing worth to mention: the chain still retain the 90s retro vibes in this chain.

@deleteduser4294966579
The famous tourist night market in Kaoshiung, really like this market as it was located on the huge road, so it made the night market journey less cramp. Had a glass of juice from famous juice stall and Taiwanese crispy chicken. Close to MRT Formosa Boulevard Station too!

Quick meal before I went back to Taipei, ordered the Beef Burger. Tasted the fusion of American style burger combined with Taiwanese sauces. There are several branches across Kaoshiung to accommodate your brunch!

Some Photos!

View from the ferry bound for Cijin Island, the trip took me around five minutes from the Guishan Ferry Harbour to Cijin Island. You can use your iPass card too to pay the boat price, costed around 20NTD!

Scenic view from Sizhiwan Station to British Takao (ft. the U-Bike I took). This the skyline of Kaoshiung. Brace for hot weather since Kaoshiung is located in the Southern Taiwan which normally hotter than the Northern Taiwan such as Taipei.
