International Travel Tips
💾Save this for your next international trip!⬇️⬇️⬇️
✈️ #1. BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE AIRLINE. If you can avoid booking with a 3rd party company, please do! In the event something goes wrong during travel (trip delays, cancellations, poor service, etc) the airline won’t be able to help you much (in-person nor over the phone). They’ll direct you to call the 3rd party you booked through. Often times the 3rd party doesn’t have access to the airlines system, and the airline can’t change your reservation because it was booked elsewhere. This can leave you stuck without any options and with a massive headache.
💊 #2 MEDICATION. Always pack your personal medication(s) in your carry-on. Though we all like to think our luggage won’t be lost or delayed, sometimes this DOES happen. You don’t want to be left without meds, especially in a foreign country where you may not be able to replace them.
📍#3 AIRTAGS. If you plan to check a bag I recommend air tagging it (regardless of what airline you’re flying). Mistakes do happen, baggage does get lost or delayed. Having a tracker on your luggage allows you to always know where your luggage is, and communicate to the airline EARLY if there’s any hiccups. I also recommend AirTagging some of your valuable items (such as passport & wallet).
💳#4 INFORM YOUR BANK. Sometimes banks will flag your card for suspicious activity if it’s used in an abnormal or foreign place. Let your bank know where you’ll be on what dates to avoid this! It’s also important to check if your card(s) have foreign transaction fees.
I always bring AT LEAST one credit card (for use) and one debit card (for an ATM).
