Included:
-Stops along your drive to/from Port Renfrew
-Things to do/see in Port Renfrew
-Food/drink recommendations in Port Renfrew and along the way
-Hike/beach recommendations
Please note that this guide assumes access to a car and the drive starts from Victoria (or nearby areas)
Sombrio beach is famous for it's hidden waterfall that is a Canadian wonder you must explore!
Notes to get to the waterfall:
-park at the Sombrio Beach trailhead
-once you hike down to the beach, go left and keep an eye on your left. It's about a 15min walk once you step onto the beach from the trail
-when you see a stream passing through some logs (or maybe other fellow travelers) going into an opening between the rocks, you'll know you're in the right place
-follow the stream up through the opening in the wall to find the waterfall
Additional note: you will very likely be stepping into the stream to get to the waterfall so ensure that you have waterproof/goretex hiking shoes or boots and a change of footwear once you get back to the car
1) Please be mindful of your gas. There aren't a lot of gas stations along the way so be sure to have a full tank when leaving Victoria or at latest Sooke area(s).
2) There is limited/no cell service past Sooke. Service is very spotty or completely unavailable. Additionally, your phone may connect to the USA providers so be sure to have it on 'airplane mode' to avoid any unwanted charges.
3) In relation to the point above, be sure to have your maps downloaded. Although the road to/from Port Renfrew along the coast is pretty straightforward, you never know when you might need additional navigation
4) Please be mindful of any wildlife you may see along your drive and during your visit on Vancouver Island. Do not approach wildlife. Please do your research on bear and cougar safety.
5) Be sure to give yourself enough time for the drive along with any stops you may want to make. Be mindful of the daylight hours.
Be sure to stroll down the dock to see some beautiful views and possibly some marine life!

Hi there!
I'm Liza, a Canadian based traveler, hiker, and film photographer.
My love for traveling started at a young age and has continued to grow with every trip I take. I love planning trips with the goal of seeing and experiencing as much as possible at my destination(s). I specifically enjoy immersing myself in the culture, nature, and foods that my destinations have to offer. If you share the same travel goals, my guides are for you!
Each guide that I have created is a trip I have personally taken. So you can be sure that you're getting advice from someone who's actually "been there done that".
I also love combining my passion for travel with my hobbies of hiking and film photography. Want to see some of the trips that I've captured? Find me on Instagram @35mm.digital :)
I'm grateful to have had the opportunities to travel around many countries and experience so many beautiful places. I hope to use my knowledge and experiences from previous trips to help others plan their visits to all the destinations that I adore!
I look forward to helping YOU plan your trips to go see the world!
