Howth - Dublin's seaside escape
As a nature lover, I was seeking something a bit different from sampling many (MANY) pints of Guinness and so I dragged my hungover self out of bed nice and early for a change of scenery.
How to get there
First things first, you need to figure out how to get there. No one likes having to transfer through 3 different types of transport, running from one station to the next, so its a relief that Dublin has a direct train taking you from the city centre to Howth.
The DART is an easy to operate trainline in Dublin, you take the E931 Dart to Howth (it should be the final stop). It cost me €2.65 one way, and took around 30mins.
There is also the option of the bus, you can take the 6 or H3 which will take around 45mins, and will probably cost similar to the train. I, personally, prefer a train so didn't take the bus but they all take you to around the same place.
What to do
Once you get to Howth, spend some time just walking around the harbour, admiring the colourful houses and exploring the local shops on the seafront.

Howth's Cliff Walks
These walks are the perfect way to explore the rugged Irish cliffsides. There are a variety of walks that you can do, depending on how long you have and if you want to walk further or not. I did the green route and it was very easy to follow, with signposts the whole way, however I would recommend taking a photo of the map before you leave just incase.
This walk follows along the cliffs (I know you would've never guessed from the name...!), and all start along the same route and it is only really on the loop back that each path differs. The walk leads to a gorgeous view of the lighthouse and when you get to the signpost below, that's your sign to go up and start the return loop.
I was lucky enough to go there on a dry and not too windy way, as the paths are on the cliffside I would suggest that you try to avoid super windy days as it could get dangerous.
