Hi! I'm MC, an Augusta local for 18 years. If I were to plan the perfect weekend in my hometown this is what I would do. (best for April-September)

Day 1: Downtown

Augusta has a wonderfully energetic and artistic downtown district with great restaurants, shops and an easy walk to the view of the river.

-Lunch at New Moon café, the turkey apple croissant and smoothies are my favorite.

-A walk down Broad street will take you to one of a kind shops, I always wander into Art on Broad, The Book Tavern, Freshwater Designs, Earth Pantry, Psychotronic Records, and Field Botanicals.

-If your looking for any guides Augusta & Co is a one stop shop.

-Broad street is only 3 blocks away from the Augusta River Walk, a beautiful way to experience the Savannah River.

-Keep an eye out for shows at the Chat Noir, The Miller, or The Imperial there often comedy shows, concerts, or plays at pretty affordable prices.

-If your looking for more hands on group activities Tire City Pottery has pottery classes and Augusta Candle Co. is walk in candle making.

-There are so many amazing dinner locations downtown for different budgets including, Frog Hallow $$$, Edgar's Above Broad $$$, Pho-Ramen'L $$, Farm Haus $, and Beamie's $.

Day 2: Outdoor activities

One of my favorite activities in Augusta is kayaking down the canal. Its about 5 miles down stream and is a 3 hour activity. Its very relaxing and friendly for all ages.

-Two Dudes and a Boat is one of the best business to rent kayaks from.

-I'd advise packing a picnic lunch and water especially in the summer.

-After a day in the sun Pink Dipper is a cute local ice cream shop that has some of my favorite flavors.

If it's baseball season, the Augusta Green Jackets are located right on the Savannah River on the South Carolina side. They have affordable tickets and great stadium food. It's one of my favorite pass times and on Saturdays they have fireworks!

Day 3: North Augusta

I enjoy starting my day with yoga and movement.

-GVO studios is my favorite wellness studios in the area

-Sheila's bakery is one the best bakeries and coffee shops. It just so happens to be right around the corner of GVO.

-The Greeneway is a paved walking/biking path that stretches 12 miles located in North Augusta. It's a great way to get fresh air, see the Savannah River, and connect with nature for all ages and abilities.

-BBQ Barn has amazing soul food for a great price.  I always plan to get a meal there when I'm home.
