Choosing a place to stay in Bangkok may be a daunting task, given the myriad of options. I have simplified this task for you and offer you a curated list of hotel options across Bangkok for any budget.

I avoided Khaosan and Sukhumvit Soi 11, both areas with good hotel deals, but very touristic, alluring visitors with drugs and girls. I do not recommend staying in those areas, unless you specifically look for those experiences. There are alternatives that will offer you a much better experience of the city.

Tip: if you plan on mostly exploring the old town, then do not stay in the Sukhumvit area to avoid heavy traffic.

Luxury hotels

Here is a list of some of the most exclusive stays in Bangkok. All of these hotels are located on the Chao Phraya River.

Exclusive stays

Mandarin Oriental

If you want to stay in the first luxury hotel of Siam, it is no other than Mandarin Oriental, built in 1876. The hotel has a rich history and has welcome reknowned guests such as The Prince of Wales, The Queen of Sweden, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlon Brando. Bamboo Bar, the first jazz bar in the country, envolved into the city legend until this day. The hotel is conveniently located across the river from Iconsiam.
