In the old town you can find the Ducal Palace, the Cathedral, the Monastery of Santa Chiara and the house where Donatello was born.

The city that we can now visit was built in the 15th Century, when Federico da Montefeltro undertook a radical rebuilt of the city, giving it also the Ducal Palace the focal point of any visit to the city.

Urbino became quickly the heart of the Rainassance thanks to the interest of the Duke to be surrounded by bright minds. At his court one could meet Leon Battista Alberti, Marsilio Ficino, Piero della Francesca, to name just a few.

You can visit the old town in a day, I recommend wearing comfy shoes as you will walk up and down the hill.

Get lost around the narrow cobbled roads, wondering what a beautiful life must live those who still live in a place almost untouched by modernization, and end up at the old Monastero di Santa Chiara. Another amazing example of Renaissance architecture.

When it’s almost sunset make your way to Fortezza Albornoz, you will enter the gates and find yourself in front of the most amazing landscape you have ever seen.

During summer evenings I recommend another stroll around town, appreciating the clear air and the millions of stars you can see from there, before heading to your hotel room and finally resting your feet.
