3 Days in KL ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ

Last February, I went on a short trip to Kuala Lumpur to catch a concert (which got cancelled ๐Ÿคก). The itenerary became more roomy as a result but that's great for a relaxing and laid-back time in this big city.

Accomodation

Ceylonz KLCC by Perfect Host
@singye
On the days leading up to the trip, I was a bit anxious about this booking as I saw some reviews about cockroaches and bad service. Fortunately, our stay here was quite pleasant. We managed to catch a surprise fireworks display on our second night here and that made for a beautiful memory. The view from the room was gorgeous, the facilities were clean and there was free Netflix! It was so tempting to just Netflix and GrabFood the whole afternoon on rainy days. Check out the gym (they have a punching bag!), infinity pool and rooftop bar. There's also a covenience store at the first level. Perfect staycation location. Note that this is not a hotel per se, more like a serviced-apartment. There won't be room service everyday, etc.

Day 1

Kafe Kleptokrat
@singye
This unique cafe is gaining popularity recently. Fortunately, there are 2 storeys and getting a seat wouldn't be an issue. The menu consists of mainly Malaysian/fusion dishes. I had the Smoked Beef Spaghetti which was a traditional creamy and spicy Masak Lemak Cili Api with Daging Salai (smoked beef). The serving size of the mains were so generous that we could barely finish our carrot zucchini cake. Worth a visit for the ambience and the food.

Again Thrift Store
@singye
Just down the street from OKGO Store is Again Thrift Store. This thift shop is bigger and has interesting props and decor. Very insta-worthy from many angles. I bought a pair of vintage men's trousers for RM24. The prices are very reasonable! Even if you weren't able to find a piece you like, it's fun to interact with the props and write on their graffiti wall just for fun.

Shimokita Space
@singye
This last thrift shop that we visited was quite a long walk from Again Thift Store and had a really dodgy entrance. The walk up is dark and we kept doubting if it's the right place. Just keep walking and you'll be greeted with a cool vintage game console and a giant teddy bear. The pieces here are more expensive and the changing room is not ideal. But after sifting through the clothes, you can buy a drink and chill at the other side of the store. We bought Butterbeers which dare I say taste better than the ones at Universal Studios ๐Ÿซข

Sunway Pyramid

We took a Grab to Sunway Pyramid Mall which was huge and good for grabbing souviners for your family and friends such as curry paste from Madam Kwan's.

Day 2

KLCG Confectionery & Bakery @Dataran Merdeka
@singye
We came here first thing in the morning as we heard how fast the pastries get sold out. For pastries, we ordered a Ham & Cheese Croissant, Matcha Danish, Pistachio Supreme and the Raspberry Supreme. It was definitely an overkill for only 2 people but we couldn't resist. The pastries are crispy and flaky. If I came back to KL again, this is the one place I'll insist on coming back to. We ordered the Merdeka Brew but they mistakenly gave us Royal Dutch Cocoa instead. The Royal Dutch Cocoa was a bit too sweet for our liking (and we needed caffine after the sugar rush from the pastries), but we made a separate order for the Merdeka Brew and it was pretty good as expected.

National Textiles Museum
@singye
This museum is just across the street from the bakery. It's quite small but informative and detailed. For 5RM, it's not a bad place to walk off the food coma in air-conditioning. There are workshops held on the weekends once in a while.

Chinatown Kuala Lumpur
@singye
We passed through the Chinatown on the way to RexKL. It's a typical Chinatown with interesting shophouses and murals in the surrounding area.

BookXcess RexKL
@singye
RexKL is a relatively new building that hosts a cool bookstore and many hip eateries. There is also a small vintage store on the 2nd floor. We bought some burgers from Atla Burgers that looked really unassuming but were surprisingly delicious.

Day 3

Ozmosis Wellness Spa (Ascott KL)
@singye
We spent 5 hours here at this spa for the Premium Couple Spa Retreat. This was by no means cheap but definitely more affordable than if we were to get the same treatment in Singapore. The staff were professional and skilled. And after the whole treatment, we got an assortment of food for high tea. Very relaxing after all that walking in the past few days.

Merchant's Lane
@singye
This cafe is a nice retreat from the rain and walking. There's free wifi so you can see locals working remotely over a drink. It's quite a peaceful and quiet cafe to end the day at.

A laid-back bar with a large menu of interesting drinks. This is a must-visit for me! We ordered a Matcha Sakura and a Too Gouda To Be True.

These are places that I planned to visit but didn't manage to. Will definitely check them out if I find myself in KL again!

Jalan Alor
@singye
This is a food street where you can try all kinds of authentic local cuisine and street food.
