Budapest with my Hungarian Bestie🌸

If you come to London I can bring you to my favourite spots, but if you go to Budapest I can suggest to you the one my bestie told me about and showed me while I was there! 🩷 And I can reassure you that she has the same high standards I have, especially when it comes to food! ✨

My stay

Corinthia Budapest
@yourfriend_chichi
This was the best stay I ever had and I would definitely go back there when I can afford it again. From the scent, you smell when you step in, to the smallest detail like finding the room done again in the evening with a chocolate box on top of the pillow. We stayed in the Junior Suite and the matress gave me back 5 years of lost sleep. I'm not joking! In our room package, we also had the spa and the lounge included, which was so nice! We enjoyed the spa so much (you can read more in its own section) and the lounge had unlimited drinks and snacks from 12pm to 10pm, like that is crazy! Breakfast was also included in our room package and they even had a chef cooking the eggs as you like it!

Sightseeing

Hungarian Parliament Building
@yourfriend_chichi
If you have OCD, this place will please your mind so much! It is completely symmetrical and so satisfying to watch, especially at night and from the other side of the river or a cruise. Historical bits: It is one of Europe’s most impressive parliament buildings, designed in a Gothic Revival style with a grand dome and over 600 rooms. Completed in 1904, it was built to symbolize Hungary’s newfound independence and prosperity. Seeing it lit up at night from across the Danube is like watching a perfectly composed painting come to life.

Shoes on the Danube Bank
@yourfriend_chichi
If you are like me, you will cry at sites like this, because even thinking about the history behind this will make you think 'How can humanity be so evil?'. At the same time, sites like this help us remember what should NOT happen again. This haunting yet minimalist memorial consists of 60 iron shoes set along the riverbank. Each pair tells a story of the Jewish victims who were forced to remove their shoes before being executed into the Danube by fascist forces during WWII. It’s a place that leaves an unforgettable impression—simple, but full of emotion and history.

Buda Castle
@yourfriend_chichi
Many people recommend walking through the many steps this castle has, just to get that nice view from the right top, but is it really worth it? The truth is that it is only if you do enjoy walking that many steps. If you don't, grab a drink and sit in front of it on the other side of the river. It is particularly magical during sunset when the sunlight comes down and lights turn on. Historical bits: Formerly the royal palace of Hungarian kings, it stands as a reminder of the country’s tumultuous past. Originally built in the 13th century, the castle has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The mix of Baroque and medieval elements makes wandering around feel like stepping into a chapter of a history book, with every corner telling a different story.

Fisherman's Bastion
@yourfriend_chichi
With its fairytale-like towers, it offers some of the best panoramic views of Budapest (if you enjoy putting the steps in). Completed in 1902, it was named in honour of the fishermen who defended this section of the city during the Middle Ages. It’s not just about the views—the place itself is a visual treat with its white stone arches and pointed turrets that look almost surreal at sunrise or sunset.
