Madrid is a home to some of my all time favorite cafes and after two years of thorough research I am bringing you the list of the best places to enjoy your coffee in Spanish capital! I will be focusing on the quality of the beverage, the vibes the place gives out, customer service, food options, the general aesthetics and whether it is vegan\vegetarian friendly, as well as if it is lap-top or pet friendly. I am also including the pricing, information of general coffee culture in Spain, and even how to order in Spanish like a local!

Located near La Latina metro station this minimalist-designed space takes up the number one on this list as the first cafe that fully stole my heart in Madrid. Offering perfectly flavoured coffee, along with some yummy cakes and food suitable for vegans&vegeterians. Baristas are friendly, the playlist is great, place is pet friendly and you can also bring your lap top.(Do have in mind that the space is quite small and that seats are not the most comfortable ones.) Ruda also organizes workshops and intresting events occasionally which you can track on their social media, and in their digital store you can purchase coffee beans, tea, coffee making kit, tote bags,etc.

This charming café, with the large number of seating both inside and out on the terrace, sparks with unique ambience. Located near the antique market El Rastro, this place is carefully designed, super inviting and with plants all around the café. It is one of the bigger cafés on the list, nonetheless it is very busy, especially on the weekends. There is a seating for those coming to work, however it is limited, so have that in mind. Other than its gorgeous aesthetics, the place offers extensive menu with amazing coffee and food, as well as tea, desserts, pastry and some interesting vegan colorful latte’s which I encourage you to try! As I mentioned prior, though very spacious, it is a crowded place, which leads to service sometimes being a bit slow. Even so, the vibes in this place are amazing, food&coffee tasty and aesthetics inviting and comfortable. It’s one of my favorites on the list!

Agrado Café

A trendy cafe with menu featuring everything from coffees and lattes to mimosas and various brunch items. The menu includes options for vegans\vegetarians, as well as some glutten free food. The ambience is cozy and their shared table is good and comfy for solo travelers. The design and colors of the space make you feel calm and relaxed. During the week it is lap top friendly. Overall, it is a good value for the money. Do keep in mind that staff mainly speaks Spanish.

This lovely newsstand brings together coffee&magazines in the lively 'La Latina' neighborhood. They sell specialized magazines you can normally only find online, and surprisingly great tasting coffee for a 'kiosko'. If you are in the area, do get a coffee to go, you will not regret it! Barista is super friendly and location very convinient.

Hi, my name is Kristina and I am an adventurer passionate about slow travel. I’ve dedicated the last 5 years of my life to exploring the world, and gaining wider understanding on travel planning-especially budget friendly one! As I prioritize slow travel, I have chosen moving away from my homeland Serbia, and have spent 1 and a half year in New York, 6 months in San Francisco and around 2 years in Madrid. During my stay, I have done as much of traveling as possible, using up my days off, weekends and public holidays.
