Trekking across Iceland in 7 Days
First Things First - Flights!
Depending on where you live, Iceland Air is likely the best airline to fly. They have direct flights from many US cities to Reykjavik and the flights are typically more economical than flying bigger name airlines such as United or British Airways. The link below will take you directly to Iceland Air where you can book whichever class you like, pick seats, and all that fun stuff.
And What About Rental Cars?
A lot of people choose to rent a camper van and drive around Iceland that way. However, my friends and I aren't the most campy of people so we chose to rent a car and stay in hotels instead. Rental cars are not cheap in Iceland and we chose the cheapest option that would fit all of us and our luggage, and honestly, it is worth the money to pay for a bigger car. We had a tiny little car and were jam-packed in there. Additionally, we got TWO flat tires and got stuck on a rocky hill and some of our issues could have been alleviated by having a larger car - so if you can, get the bigger car. It will also be helpful when you're trekking off the beaten path on roads that are really not roads.
This is us kicking rocks out from under our spare tire when we got stuck on a rocky hill. I have no idea how, but we managed to kick enough rocks out from under the tire and push the car up the hill while our other friend floored the gas. 0/10 do not recommend.
