Dance through the night in the colorful streets of Cartagena 💃
Cartagena de Indias - from the beautiful old town to the hip district Getsemani
If your looking for sightseeing during the day and partying the night away Cartagena is your place to be. It was also our first time in colombia and we immediately fell in love with the city. The city especially the more touristy districts are always busy so there is no need to worry about your safety. However please be aware that crowdy places are also a paradise for pickpockets. First rule when traveling trough colombia: Don’t give papaya! This is a typical colombian saying and means don’t make yourself a target. Don’t walk around with your belongings in your hand, don‘t walk alone along empty streets etc. - follow these simple rule and you‘ll be fine!
So now back to the fun part. Cartagena has a lot to offer. From historical places like it‘s castle or the old town, to Cartagenas beaches or hipper districts where you can enjoy streetfood and cheap drinks line beer and cocktails. Cartagena has it all!
During the day
San Felipe de Barajas
This place is a fortress from the 17th century. Is upon a hill not far from Getsemani. We paid around 8$ per Person an entry fee which was fine. You can walk along the fortress and also through it‘s several tunnels. It also offers kind of a nice view over the city.
