Bolzano is known as one of the best towns to Dolomite access. It sits tucked amongst mountains on all sides, making it easy to get to the trails or the ski slopes!
Another great thing about Bolzano: the food! There are so many fantastic dishes to try that show the unique blend of Italian and Austrian culture that sets South Tyrol apart. These are some of my favorites!
A quick note as you research the area: this part of Italy is nationally Italian but culturally very Austrian. That means everythings has two names. Bolzano is the Italian name and likely what the city is known as in most other countries, but it’s also called Bozen in German.
Bolzano is a small enough city that you can walk the entire historic area in 15 minutes, making it easy to explore either as a day trip or a weekend home base!

My favorite restaurant in Bolzano! Michelin-rated and so delicious, but not wildly expensive. Pasta dishes run in the 12-15€, with secondi (meat dishes) running a bit more.
